Charlotte Latin School
Traditional in design and values, innovative in implementation and execution – that’s Latin.
From our Founders’ vision in 1970 to create an inclusive school where academic excellence is encouraged, leadership is cultivated, liberal arts are valued and phonics-based reading is essential, Latin has educated thousands of students in the importance of learning, citizenship, service to others, hard work and Honor Above All.
– Latin is a safe place for children to express themselves and learn. Each students at Latin is known as an individual and as a member of our school family.
– Relationships are key. Our faculty and staff teach, coach, encourage, support and care for our students.
-Latin partners with parents to provide a moral community that counter-balances contemporary culture. We believe in keeping children appropriately young.
– Academic excellence and highly-skilled teachers are the foundation of our school.
– We value diversity and inclusion. Latin was the first independent TK-12 school in Charlotte to open integrated.

The John Crosland School
Belong, Believe, Succeed! Before students succeed, they must know they belong and believe in themselves as others do.
Welcome to The John Crosland School, where a world of opportunity and success await your child. Founded in 1978, Crosland was the first school in North Carolina dedicated to the education of children with learning and attention differences. We go beyond the definition of ‘school.’ We serve students with ADHD/focusing, dyslexia, executive functioning, processing information, expressive/receptive language, navigating common social skills, following directions, reading comprehension, dysgraphia and dyscalculia issues. Our holistic approach uses innovative academic tools combined with enrichment programs, sports, the arts, and executive functions classes to narrow the learning gap, and create well-rounded students in the process. Take a look at success and your child’s full potential realized.

The Oaks
At The Oaks we are pioneering a new model of school for a new generation of students. The founders (Dowd, Erin, and Heidi discovered a shared passion for a new educational model that would teach kids the way they were designed to learn. Out of that passion, The Oaks was established. Learning is an all-in process at The Oaks; our model builds active learners and thinkers, and through our use of readiness rooms, ensures our students are prepared to learn both physically and emotionally. We employ occupational therapists and research-based activities to ensure all students are cognitively organized, physically calm, and socially engaged each period of every day. We use technology sparingly in our classrooms, and we have capped our class sizes at eight students. Our curriculum is project-based, and every learning environment is set up for movement, physical engagement with the lesson, and collaboration among peers and with faculty. Curriculum at The Oaks is designed to refine students’ problem solving and creative skills to develop complex and critical thinking skills.
In addition to our unique educational approach, a foundational belief of The Oaks is that all men and women are created with unique qualities and talents that we can and should identify and develop. As such, our model is structured to ensure the season of childhood is celebrated and not rushed, so that gifts and talents may be cultivated. To that end, our thoughtfully crafted lessons engage a child’s God-given senses of curiosity and inquiry in developmentally and individually appropriate ways.
