I am thrilled to present to you today Smarty Mom, Casie Petty. She’s a new mom and we’re thrilled to highlight her today. I met Casie shortly after she moved here six years ago. I was meeting with my sales teammates at Panera and noticed a new workout studio going in right behind it. I dropped by after my meeting and met a cheerful studio owner who encouraged me to come in for a class. It was Casie.
I quickly learned that she had moved here from Nashville to start and manage this Pure Barre studio in Myers Park. I was in awe of her entrepreneur skills. I later learned that not only was Casie great at running her business, but she also was a killer (in a good way) Pure Barre instructor and a sweet and kind friend. It was been so wonderful to watch Casie in her success in the studio, but also see how her life has changed. She is married and has a precious baby boy and continues to manage Pure Barre Myers Park excellently with great classes, fabulous teachers, fun apparel and more. There’s just something about going to a place where your comfortable and you know you will always be challenged. Casie continues to make that happen year after year, but now I get to see her precious baby Stokes photos along the way. She is a true testament that as moms, we can still do it all and enjoy ourselves a long the way.

Favorite things about Charlotte: When I first moved here I feel in love with the skyline and beautiful trees. It really is just beautiful.
We love hearing about our local female entrepreneurs. Tells us about your business.
We are about to celebrate six years in our Myers Park location and just celebrated five years in our Ballantyne location. SouthPark just opened in November. Wow, time flies when you’re having fun and are very busy. I love managing and running Pure Barre. It is always rewarding to see my clients get stronger. What we teach is always changing in order to challenge our clients more to see results. Just recently, we added a new Platform class to our normal Pure Barre schedule. It’s an hour of full cardio! The basis behind is small isometric movements to lengthen and tone the body. If you haven’t tried it, you should. It’s great and it will definitely get your heart rate up.
How did get interested in Pure Barre and what prompted you to move to Charlotte and open a studio?
Well, actually I was a banker in Nashville and was not in love with my job. A friend of mind starting taking Pure Barre and asked me to join her. I thought she was crazy because I was never a fan of working out, but I went anyway. Honestly, my opinions on working out all changed when I starting taking Pure Barre. Once I went, I was hooked! At this time there was only about 20 studios mostly in California, Colorado and Alabama. I really thought this might be a good thing to jump into and what did I have to lose….so I started talking to my friend about opening a studio. I had never been to Charlotte, but we thought it would be a great place for Pure Barre. I heard it was a fabulous city and that peaked my interest. I was ready for a change, and the rest is history! I couldn’t imagine my life without my move to Charlotte and Pure Barre.
Have you always had a love for fitness?
NO! I really didn’t until I started Pure Barre.
What do you love most about being a studio owner & instructor?
I love seeing all the strong women that come in the door everyday. We have some amazing women that work out out at Pure Barre. Even if I am tired or having a bad day, I come in the studio and I have everyone here to turn that around. I also love hearing about how Pure Barre has helped so many of my clients in their everyday lives. It truly is priceless to me.
Since you are a new mom was it hard to get back to work after Stokes was born?
It was extremely hard, but having such a great group of women at the studio who care about me and Stokes makes it worth it. The support is wonderful.
Has it been hard to balance work now that you are a working mom?
Yes! (I’m being honest.) I do feel like I miss out seeing some of my clients that come at certain times or miss out on teacher gatherings, but at the end of the day it’s all worth it. I get to do both things I love, support and encourage women to stay fit and healthy and enjoy every minute I can of being a mom and a wife.
Do you have any tips for other first time moms?
Just have fun and enjoy every moment! And stick to a schedule! 🙂
Just for fun:
What is your favorite activity to do with your family at home and out & about? I just started swim lessons with Stokes so we are having fun with that. And on the weekends, just relaxing with my husband and hanging out. It’s just so fun all being together.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Charlotte? My go to is always Roosters. But lately, I’m loving all the dog and kid friendly breweries.
Favorite shopping center to wander? I always go to Cotswold shopping center. I can knock out the grocery shopping, shopping for Stokes and our dog Charlie.
Favorite site to shop online? Right now it’s Amazon. It’s all about what kind of fun toy I can find for Stokes.
Favorite TV Show? Anything on Bravo!
Favorite Kind of Music? Don’t have any….:( But I love my Pure Barre playlists for class.
