*****THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED – OUR WINNER IS STEPHANIE RAYMOND!*****
Alright Smarty readers, we have an amazing Smarty giveaway for all of you who have American Girl doll lovers in your life. With Christmas right around the corner (it will sneak up on us before we know it!), the timing could not be more perfect!
We are giving away one Maryellen Larkin™ Beforever American Girl doll to one very lucky smarty reader!
This little Clark nugget was ALL smiles when she found out that this sweet new doll would be a part of her American Girl Doll family at Casa de Clark ☺
Here’s what my little American Girl Doll had to say about Maryellen:
“I think she grew up in a time that it was kind of hard to be a girl, but she doesn’t let that stop her from speaking up for what she believes in. Even though back then it wasn’t a popular thing for girls to be friends with boys, that didn’t stop her being best friends with Davy, or being friends with Angela, even though she’s Italian and a lot of people back then didn’t like people who were from Italy. She also has some really fun clothes and I can’t wait to wear her matching cozy Pajamas!” Looks like someone is already making up her Christmas list ☺
Maryellen is not only ‘Totes Adorbs”, as my daughter called her, but she is also the Winner of the 2015 National Parenting Publications (NAPPA) Silver Award. What makes her so special? Where do I begin?!!! This 1950’s inspired doll, Ellie (her nickname) is an enthusiastic, optimistic, ambitious and imaginative girl. She comes from a large family, so while she longs to stand out, sometimes feels lost in the shuffle. She had polio when she was only seven years old during the Polio Epidemic of 1952, and as a result, one leg is weaker than the other and suffers from cold sensitive lungs, which by they way, she is determined to overcome! Despite her disability, she is a fast runner, excellent swimmer and loves roller skating.
As a mother of a young daughter, I love that regardless of what life has thrown at her, she is an absolute leader who isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right – not an easy thing to do as a young girl in the 50’s era. Maryellen’s friends call her “the one, and only” because there’s no one in the world quite like her. American Girl describes her as an inventive girl who stands out from the crowd.
Side note – if you have a girl who is a Brownie or Girl Scouts, this is THE American Girl Doll for you! Did I mention she was once a Brownie and recently graduated to Girl Scouts when she entered the 4th grade? Your daughter, niece, granddaughter etc… will love reading all about Maryellen in the classic book that she comes with.
To learn more about Maryellen Larkin and the Beforever American Girl Doll line, go to their web site, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and American Girl’s Instagram page. To request a free American Girl catalogue, call 1-800-845-0005.
if you’re local, you can always pick one up at the American Girl Doll store at their South Park location.

I’m a subscriber and shared on Facebook. My daughter loves American Girl dolls b/c of their personalities that you learn about through the books and movies. She is a dancer and got hooked on all the accessories too with Isabelle being last year’s GOTY.
I am in love with these dolls because they give unconditional love. They are a friend when you need a shoulder to cry on. They are just always there to give a smile when you feel down. I buy these dolls for myself because I have mental illness oroblems and they help me when I feel like I am alone I can take and see them and hug them and know they are there for me even if no one else is.

Previous subscriber and shared. 🙂 My daughter would love to bring Maryellen home. We’ve listened to the Kaya and Felicity book series together, thanks to audiobooks available through Charlotte Mecklenburg Libraries. We look forward to, eventually, reading all of the historical character during our mother-daughter time. There are 13 historical characters now and we’re already looking forward to #14 even though Maryellen was only introduced last month.

My daughter loves the BeForever and historical dolls. From Kaya and Addie to Julie and the recent girls of the year, she’s read every book AG has published. What I love is that she has some historical context. She’ll comment, “that was in Caroline’s time” when she studies something in school from the early 1800s. She also likes how the books help set the scene when she plays with the dolls. She can’t wait to read about Maryellen! It would be fun to have the doll, too!

Both of my girls LOVE all things American Girl! I think Maryellen would be a very special edition to our family because she was a Girl Scout (I was, my oldest is & my youngest is patiently waiting for her turn:), she grew up in the 1950’s – a time the girls can have conversations about with their Grandma and for her nickname “Ellie” also my oldests nickname 🙂 She would be our first BeForever doll, the books would be a wonderful addition to our home library.

I want to win so that my niece will have her first American Girl.
What girl wouldn’t love them? Great quality and super cute! My girl loves dressing them.
Shared! My daughter has just gotten into the American Girl dolls so this would be her first one. She lives going to the store and playing with her friends’ and cousin’s dolls and definitely wants one for Christmas. We’d love to have Maryellen join our family!
Subscribed and shared!
My daughter has loved American Girl since she was five years old. Over the years, we have enjoyed doing her dolls’ hair, dressing them up, taking them to the beach and the theater, teaching them in their doll school, cooking with them, and reading all of their stories. My daughter’s favorite books are Kirsten’s stories and mine are Kaya’s, but all of them are wonderful! My daughter is 12 now and still loves her dolls and sharing them with her little cousin. We just took my Mom and my daughter’s look-a-like doll, Mia, to the bistro to celebrate my Mom’s 64th birthday with lunch and decorate your own cupcakes. American Girl has something for the girl of every age to embrace, learn from, and find joy in.
My daughter got her first American Girl dolls last Christmas. She got a My American Girl (now Truly Me) from “Santa” and Julie from her dad. I love how excited she gets while playing with her dolls. She has always had a vivid imagination and her dolls really nurture that. She had to take her MYAG doll, “Rachel”, to soccer practice today. ☺️ She is working on reading all the historical books right now. She has read Julie and Kaya’s books and she has Caroline, Addy, Molly (My younger sister gave my daughter her Molly doll. They share a special bond.), Kit and Maryellen waiting in the wings. She is planning on buying Maryellen with her birthday money (her birthday is on the 28th of this month) because my mom was born in ’55 and my daughter think it’s so cool that there’s a doll from “her time.” It would be so amazing if she could use her money for some accessories instead. Fingers crossed!
I do not have a daughter. I’m a 18 year old collector! I love American Girl dolls because I love seeing the different historicals, & the different outfits! I also love the different combinations of hair & eye colors on the Truly Me dolls! I like hugging them when I’m sad, or sometimes before I go to bed! I plan on presenting some in my Speech class next semester!
My daughter loves American girl dolls and the detail and quality of their clothing and accessories. She loves the historical/Beforever stories.

The reason my daughter loves American Girl is because she can read and watch the history behind the dolls and use them in imaginative play with their accessories and clothing. She feels more of an attachment to the dolls when she knows their stories and watches their movies.

We love American Girl dolls because they are made so well that they can be passed down through the generations! You don’t have to worry about their hair falling out or their look going out of style. Almost every girl loves dolls, and my daughter is no exception! She’s at the age where she can spend hours with her dolls, and she’s an avid reader too, so the American Girl collections are a perfect fit for her!
