It is hard to believe that three short years ago I fell in love with Flywheel. It was my pleasure to get up with Abbie to find out some of the questions that have entered my mind while I am doing abs during FlyBarre or some other pose that feels so uncomfortable (uncomfortable good, of course) that my mind has to escape in order to get through the move. Abbie is one of the instructors that teach both FlyBarre and Flywheel. She has amazing energy that makes her classes super fun. If you have never been to FlyBarre or Flywheel, you can always try your first class for FREE, just log on and they will hook you up. Here is my convo with Abbie!
I see you are sporting a short hair cut, I love it! Do you miss your long hair?
I don’t miss my long hair. Actually, not at all. The short cut is so easy and I love how funky it makes me feel. I definitely feel like it fits my personality better.
Where is your favorite place to shop for exercise gear?
Lululemon. I am obsessed. I think I have an addiction, lol.
Are there any barre moves that we can do at home?
I think a plank while watching TV is one of the best things you can do. It strengthens your core and can be effective in a short amount of time. I also do push-ups and tricep dips on the floor while hanging out at home. You could also totally put on a 4 minute song and rock some wide second as well while fixing your hair.
Since you teach Flywheel and FlyBarre, how to you balance your workout?
I always get a great workout teaching both. Although we concentrate on assisting clients in FlyBarre, I still demonstrate every move and manage to get a workout in as well. I always go full out on the bike while teaching though. I think it is important to ride along with your clients to show them that what you are asking them is doable. I tend to get better power numbers when I teach compared to when I actually take a class. But, I do enjoy taking other instructors classes. I always learn something from everyone. It is not only inspiring to take a class from another FlyBarre/Flywheel instructor but extremely beneficial to my development.
What is your diet like?
I eat pretty healthy and clean. I don’t eat much before I teach early morning classes (a banana, a bar and a cup of coffee) but I eat a good amount during the day. I probably have at least 4 meals during the day. I eat a lot of salads and protein such as chicken and fish. I also love a good steak. I like pretty much everything. I do treat myself to pizza and ice cream every once in a while, and I love a good burger. But, mostly protein, fruit and greens.
It’s March, will there be any March Madness playlists?
Haha, probably not. I mean, if someone requests something I will definitely play it, but no set plans.
What is your super hero talent?
Hmmm, good question…never thought of myself as a super hero….but if I was I would be invisible.
