It’s Friday and we’re always talking fitness! Today we bring you an in-depth review of Carolina Barre & Core’s popular 30/30 class. This class R-O-C-K-S!!
Carolina Barre & Core is for you, and everyone you know. You will find and embrace your core, strengthen and lengthen your muscles and create a greater sense of peace, love and community. NO JUDGMENT, JUST RESULTS.
The 30/30 Cardio/Barre class is a special combination of cardio fusion (a high intensity, full body workout that combines interval training with strength building) mixed with barre fusion (designed to strengthen and tone muscles, sculpt arms, legs and abdominals as well as lift the butt), intended to get your heart rate going. Everything is hooked together by a series of “runs”, aka, mountain climbers. You start with 3 sets of 3 and eventually build up to 8 sets of 8. Doesn’t sound all that hard at first, but trust me, by the time you get to your 8th set, you’ll be begging for the class to be over!
The class starts out something like this. You start with warm-ups and stretching:
Then you move into punching and squats adding small weights:
Next comes the run intervals:
A little side bend right/left/backbend and you start the interval all over again. Trust me, after your 3rd set, you’ll LIVE for this quick stretch!
Moving onto arms, you’ll work triceps, biceps – pumping and pulsing just an inch through this entire session. Remember what you do to right side, you ALWAYS have to do to the left!
Tricep push-ups, side plank and push-ups are always a great workout:
This ends the first 30 minutes of cardio. By now you’ve burned well over 350 calories.
Moving onto thighs and you’re up on the barre in chair position, barre high between your thighs changing the shape of the ball with every pulse:
Next you get on your highest heels working gluts. Everything about gluts is strengthening, tightening and lifting. These tiny movements are killers!
Next comes a series of abwork focusing curls, abs and obliques. Everything focuses on strength and stillness.
When it’s all said and done, you’ll burn close to 550 calories, such an amazing workout! Here’s a special shout-out to these barre troopers who let me up in their grill for this entire session!
Special Note: Instructor, Nance Levin is the Queen of the 30/30 class offered Wednesdays at 8:30am. You’ll find instructor, Beth Campbell hosting 30/30 Barre/Yoga on Fridays at 9:45am and Grace Savage offering 30/30 Cardio/Barre on Sundays at 10:30am. You should definitely wear sneakers (not your typical barre flip flops) just in case your instructor has some extra cardio up her sleeve.
Smarty Alert: CBC is hosting an AMAZING “Find Your Center” Yoga event with master instructor, Adam Whiting!
Adam Whiting is the bomb.com when it comes to yoga workshops, you’ll need to register for this asap as spots fill up in a skinny minute. Go to CBC website, and look for the 9/27 3pm guest class. You’ll love it!
