Meet Tiffany Newcomb, our newest Smarty Mom. I met Tiffany a few years ago at a mother of multiples event, when our twins were all young. As a matter of fact, we were younger too! Today, three of our kids are in the same preschool class together and most days, my daughter Addison claims her son Sam as her boyfriend. Sam, however is not as convinced.
Tiffany is a Mom of three, runs two businesses (a children’s consignment seasonal sale and a custom door décor company), and participates in charity work and by the way also a wife. Tiffany made what some would call would call a controversial decision this year. For a few years, her doctor has followed her closely after many questionable mammograms, several biopsies, a strong family history of cancer, a recent b9 tumor and abnormal cells. She opted for the prophylactic bilateral mastectomy to do her best to ensure that she would be around to raise her children and grow old with her husband.
Smarties, meet Tiffany!
What was the hardest part about making the decision to take what some people call a drastic measure?
I knew that I ultimately would be faced with the decision and felt it was just a matter of time. My mother and my grandmother were diagnosed with cancer in their 30’s so I was expecting the news.
What did your husband Scott think about the choice of surgery?
He has always been supportive. He wants me to be as proactive as necessary to increase my odds of a normal life.
What is your current prognosis?
All good. No abnormal cells and now I have less than a 2 percent chance of developing breast cancer. My last reconstructive surgery is next week. WOOHOO!!!!
How do you handle all that you have on your plate?
Sweet friends and an occasional glass of wine helps. ☺
What is your dream vacation?
Anywhere tropical with beaches and sun. Still waiting for the dream part.
What’s your favorite movie?
Top Gun with the younger Tom Cruise
What is your favorite current pastime?
Lately I have been running and just ran a half marathon but on a more stalker note, I heard Matthew McConaughey has bought a house on Lake Norman. I am destined to find him. If anyone can confirm a sighting please let me know. I would LOVE to “run” into him.

Sail Again Children’s Consignment has a goal of building lasting relationships with their consignors, volunteers and shoppers, and would like you to have a consignment experience like no other.
This sale they are located at The Palace in Kenton Place, 8325 Copley Drive in Cornelius. $1 entry with all the proceeds going to local schools.
