Recently, my boy’s celebrated their 5th birthday at Zootastic. It is a very cool privately owned park in Lake Norman, about 10 minutes north of Mooresville. It’s like a trip to a smaller zoo in a very relaxed setting. They host quite an array of animals and it was truly an adventure for the kids and parents alike.
Our group was able to enjoy the entire park and see all the animals on their personally guided tour. We also opted for the addition of the zoo trainer animal talk. The kids loved it. Our trainer was Craig and he brought four different animals and introduced them to 15 preschoolers with tremendous patience. We met a bird, snake, ferret and fox. He taught the kids about each animal and then allowed them to pet or hold them. I passed on the snake.
We then spent some time with all the other inhabitants of the park. There were camels, llamas, tigers, kangaroos, sheep, goats, and zebras just to name a few. They currently have a baby lion and kangaroo. The price for admission is only $6 for kids and $8 for adults. For a group of 15 or more it is $5 per person. It made for a fun fall afternoon and a very affordable outing. They are open 7 days a week during the regular season.
Starting November 16th, the 4th Annual Christmas Wonderland of Lights begins. It runs until December 31st. It is a drive thru tour with lots of beautiful lights for Christmas to celebrate the holiday season.
If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, you should give Zootastic a try. It was well worth the price of admission.
