This was a little late getting out of the gate! We had some technical difficulties at the beach, no wifi today until late afternoon! Even Smarties can’t escape glitches but it doesn’t take away from how much the dad’s mean to us.
Below is a little ditty from each Smarty and her family in honor of the guys we love so much. Happy Father’s Day!
Bentien Dad: Fritz
Wendy’s fave things about her hubby as a dad:
1. Most wicked sense of humor ever
2. I have never once picked up so much as a sock after this man. And he can do a mean load of laundry.
3. He plays a hilarious game of house with Carly and Laney. He is a man and never too proud to be adorned by their hair bows if that is what they want to do.
4. He takes his words seriously. If he says it he means it. End of story. This means a lot to a woman.
5. He loves us and it shows.
Plym Dad: Randy
Ansley (11) – My favorite thing about my dad is that he takes lots of time out of his life for his kids and his wife. He can also fix anything on the planet. And he ALWAYS helps me with my homework or anything I ask.
Isabel (9) – My favorite thing about my dad is that he helps you with everything and he fixes your things and is very, very careful.
Owen (6 ½) – My dad is the best fisherman in the whole wide world. And he loves to play lacrosse with me.
Walker (6 ½) – My favorite thing about my dad is that he takes me fishing. I love my dad because he plays games with me.
Mom (married to “Dad” for 13 years) – Here are my top 5 faves about my hubby as a dad:
1) He gave up his golf game to be a dad. He did this on his own, no nagging necessary. I suspect he’ll reconnect with that old love in his life when his twin boys get just a tad older. They are itching to play. I think they were born in a country club, although that’s not the life we live☺
2) He has taught his girls to love outdoorsy, Florida things like fishing, snorkeling, catching lizards and bugs. My girls can be knee deep in muck and just a few minutes later, whip on a presh Lilly get-up without skipping a beat.
3) He’s a helper. When you give birth to twins, there is just no other option. But I know other twin moms who seethe with envy when they watch my hubby roll up his sleeves, change a dueling poopy diaper, double check math homework and still find time to give his wife a kiss. That’s impressive, and that’s why I married this guy.
4) He’s fun and funny. He’s not afraid to bust a move with his girls even though he has no rhythm whatsoever, bless his heart. He loves to laugh and make everyone around him laugh so our kids have a really funny sense of humor, and I have to think most of that is from him. Well, I’m pretty funny too. But it’s Father’s Day, so I’ll give him all the credit.
5) He loves his kids with his entire heart and soul. His world revolves around his family and I am giddy to the core because of it. He’s low maintenance and nothing makes him happier than hanging with his kids roasting marshmallows in the driveway.
Wardell Dad: Robert
The Wardell kids on Dad:
What we love about our Dad:
1) He is special
2) He stops at Gas Stations to get us candy!
3) He drives me to sports.
4) He likes cool cars.
5) He tucks us in at night.
My thoughts on Robert as a Dad:
Robert takes the time to read to the kids at night no matter how tired he is. He works hard to provide for his family and will always communicate that he regrets some of the things he has to miss. He hugs his son, and lets him know that he loves him. He lets his daughters know how special and beautiful they are and above all supports me each and every day so that I can be a good mom!
Perry Dad: John
Ava (8) – I love to play hide-and-seek with my dad.
Hunt (6) – My dad is the best soccer player and he’s really nice.
Mac (4) – My dad is the best football player and I love to play soccer with him.
Smith (almost 2) – Doesn’t talk yet, but if he did, he would say: “I love to share Pop Tarts with my dad and take sips of his Diet Coke.”
Voorhees Dad: Derek
From Mom, Jen, new parents, favorite things about her hubby as a dad:
1. He takes Addie to school every morning with me.
2. He runs (and I mean sprints) down the hall if she wakes up screaming in the middle of the night.
3. The way he calls her “my sweet angel”.
4. The silly things he does to get a smile or giggle.
5. They way he educates her on the rock bands she MUST learn about.
Hicks Dad: Bill
Tina’s favorite things about her hubby as a dad:
1. Weekends are for the family, he would rather spend time with his girls then golf with friends.
2. Whenever I come home from work, shopping, etc; my house is a mess! Which translates into there has been much fun had by all. (Of course I get the raw end of the deal with the mess to clean up!)
3. His patience while teaching them new skills with a smile. (and never letting them see him laugh.)
4. Jumping in the waves at the ocean when it is too cold for momma, and daddy, but he never disappoints his girls. (Me included!)
5. For always being dad first. The best job a man could have with adoring girls that think the world of him. ( I will remind them of this when they are teenagers and dating!)
Bowman Dad: Doug
Susan’s kids took the opportunity to share what makes their Dad special:
Ella James (age 5): My daddy is special because he is taller than my mommy and he is allowed to say bad words like stupid because he is the biggest person in our family. He teaches me about nature.
Clay (age 3): My dad is special because he builded me a driving range for golf. It is fun. I call him dad.
DiMenna Dad: Gene
The DiMenna Boys love their Dad and this is their top 5:
1) I love when my Daddy plays catch with me.
2) My Daddy is the nicest Daddy.
3) It is fun to go fishing with Dad.
4) Sometime Dad takes us four wheeling but we aren’t supposed to tell Mom.
5) I like when Daddy is the tickle monster!
Wilson Dad: Tom
The Wilson family thoughts on Dad:
1. His patience knows no limits. He will answer 4,000 questions from a curious six year old and never miss a beat.
2. He tells the best bedtime stories and gives the best baths.
3. He gives of his time and resources charitably, generously, and anonymously. It is a wonderful example for our children.
4. He believes in teaching our children integrity, honesty, and the importance of hard work. He is the best teacher because he lives by these core values.
5. He supported me 100% when all I wanted to be was a mother but it wasn’t my time. Years of infertility and he was always by my side. Three children later he knows my job is tough and appreciates me everyday.
