Charlotte Symphony’s Magic of Christmas is a must-do in my book this holiday season. This year’s performance has something for everyone – from traditional holiday favorites to rousing choral works and joyous sing-alongs – even some local bluegrass!
Celebrating its 15th year, the Magic of Christmas features merry holiday melodies performed by the Charlotte Symphony at Belk Theater. Take a break from the trimmings, tinsel, and gifts and enjoy these festive sounds that are sure to uplift. Matinee tickets 1/2 price for children.
Founded in 1932, the Charlotte Symphony is the largest and most active professional performing arts organization in the central Carolinas, giving nearly 100 performances each season and reaching an annual attendance of 200,000 listeners. Now in its 80th season, the orchestra employs 62 musicians on full-time contracts and is led by the acclaimed conductor Christopher Warren-Green, who began his tenure with the CSO in the fall of 2010.

Our favorite thing to do over the Christmas season is to bake cookies , and sit around the fire place and sing Christmas Carols watching Santa tracker. 🙂
Love to visit the Singing Bears display in Uptown Charlotte with the kids!
So many holiday traditions…our favorite is preparing for Santa’s visit with Elf on the Shelf, A message from Santa and then tracking Santa on Christmas Eve with Christmas Movies, Songs and leaving Santa lots of snacks!!
hit chic- fil-a for pepermint milkshakes and then head out to find our christmas tree.
One of our favorites is going to the Harrisburg Christmas Tree Lighting and this year my daughter is one of the performers she has admired for the past 3 years! We always combine a few other events that weekend–twice followed it with a trip to the Polar Express and this year we’ll be going to the Kannapolis illuminated parade and watch the light show. We really enjoyed Carolina Christmas last year too–we went before and after Christmas. Santa isn’t there after Christmas but the lines are much shorter!
Our favorite way to kick off the season is to tuck the kids into bed and turn on “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on Thanksgiving night. Our favorite Charlotte tradition is a visit to the Bearnstein Bears at Founder’s Hall followed by lunch Uptown.
Attending the Nutcracker when my daughters come home from college! What a wonderful time of year!
I love taking the kids to see the gingerbread house creations at Ballantyne Resort. Would love to add the symphony to our list of holiday favorites. Thanks CSP!!
We’re new to the area, so don’t know Charlotte happenings. But one of my favorite traditions is our Christmas Countdown Calendar!
Some things we are looking forward to at Christmas:Piling in the car to go look at Christmas lights. Getting Christmas photos from friends. Realizing how very blessed we are and helping others to have a merrier Christmas. Refocusing our attention from all the decorating and shopping to what Christmas is all about. The smell of hot cranberry cider filling the air. The gifts kids make me at school. Watching Charlie Brown Christmas all wrapped up in blankets. Candlelight Christmas eve services.
One of my favorite things to do is drive around and look at all the great Christmas lights around town.
My favorite thing to do in Charlotte over te holidays is go uptown with the kids and see the singing bears in Founders hall. I also love tonlook at the decorations in the Ballantyne Hotel!
We have taken our daughter to the gingerbread houses at the Ballantyne Resort, and she loved them. Definitely will do that again! The bears at Founders Hall are fun, too.
This is just my second Christmas as a Mommy. But last year we enjoyed going to get our free picture with Santa at the Bass Pro in Concord.
I was born and raised in Charlotte and I have to say, as an adult The Magic of Christmas show is my absolute favorite! We have seen the Nutcracker, Handel’s Messiah, The Singing Christmas Tree and all are fantastic, but The Magic of Christmas is our favorite thing to do in Charlotte over the holidays. 🙂
One of our favorite things to do at Christmas is to decorate our tree while listening to Christmas music and then spending the afternoon baking cookies to share with friends and family.
The kids and I love to make ornaments for the christmas tree, we each take pride in decorating our ornaments. Next, I always take a group picture of the kids and have walmart professional ornament. Then we decorate the outside of the house, the children then like to bake cookies and talk about what santa is bringing them. I love the holidays and my children!
Always unwrapping each ornament and reliving the memories.
