Have you been meaning to get out and enjoy the coolest, most inspiring and interesting arts festival around and just haven’t gotten to it yet? Not to worry, Smarties, you’ve got six more days to get out and enjoy the Charlotte International Arts Festival. It runs through this Sunday, Oct. 1!
This event which will have stretched for 17 days at more than 15 venues from Uptown to Ballantyne has transformed our city into a cultural celebration, featuring global artists with live performances, art installations, food from around the world, and more. Birdmen: Larger than Life Bird Puppets
Where: Ballantyne’s Backyard
When: Today through Sunday
What: Huge illuminated animals rove the streets. These flying animals are operated by mysterious men. We, humans, are unnoticed by these creatures. Are they living in another dimension and what is their reason to invade our streets?
International Bazaar
Where: Founders Hall, 100 N Tryon St.
When: Friday, Saturday.
What: Founders Hall will transform into an International Bazaar, featuring 75 merchants and vendors representing local cultural groups and nonprofit organizations in a magnificent celebration of the art, food, goods, and spirit that make up Charlotte’s diverse and creative cultural landscape.
This Land is My Land: Here from Afar
Where: Knight Theatre
When: Saturday, 8 p.m.
What: “This Land Is My Land…Here from Afar” is a live on-stage production that tells the true stories of people from the Charlotte community with deep roots in countries from around the world. Through beautiful storytelling, music, and dance; this show dives deep into the lives, cultures, and stories of people who make the tapestry of our community more rich, diverse, and beautiful.
