Hi, it’s me: Kiara, mommy blogger! In the words of Lil Wayne, “I’m so official, all I need is a whistle!” I had my first ever press pass to Carowinds on Friday to experience their Grand Carnivale before it opened to the public on Saturday. And I have to say, it was a delicious, fun time! I haven’t been to Carowinds without my kids in a long while.
So while Carowinds has long been a family favorite, with the great food and entertainment options during Grand Carnivale, I was reminded that it’s a top notch date night spot too. If you follow me on IG (OurHarlowLife, you know I date weekly with my husband. And we’ll certainly be hitting up Carowinds without our boys for dinner, drinks, and thrills while this event is going on!
During Grand Carnivale, you can taste test delicacies from countries around the world. This year, they include cuisine from China, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain. The small plates are delicious and perfect for walking around the park, checking out the unique crafts and special performances that are part of this limited-time event. This amazing international festival runs on select nights now through July 9, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Oh! And there’s a signature cocktail! Y’all know every party worth its weight has a signature drink (there’s also a mocktail). It tastes like how a hammock over the ocean in the Bahamas feels.
And while I enjoyed everything I tried—from pretzel bites in beer cheese (Germany) to teriyaki chicken skewers (China) — the Italian kitchen takes the cake! I’ll be headed back specifically to share the joy of the Krapfen de Carnivale, a berry and cream-filled doughnut dusted with powdered sugar, with my family. IT’S DIVINE!!! Like fancy bakery level fantastic! You need it in your life; trust me.
After you’ve ridden Fury, Carolina Cyclone, Air Racers, and Intimidator, eaten your fill, and walked off the too-full feeling while checking out international crafts and performances, don’t miss the parade! It’s full of color, singing, dancing, and just general delights!! The vibe is reminiscent of a family friendly Marci Gras parade in summer.
All in all, Grand Carnivale is not to be missed! So book your ticket to Carowinds (or better yet, grab a season pass) so you can check out the fun this summer and all year long!! See ya there!
