Summer is such a valuable time. It’s weeks and weeks of opportunities to find joy, be with friends, explore, go on adventures, and even expand our minds in the most fun ways. Each of us dreams of a different kind of summer. That’s why Covenant Day created 29 unique summer camps over seven weeks this summer, so you can design the summer you’ve always wanted!
Want to join a band? There’s a camp for that. Want a build a robot? There’s a camp for that. Want to join the theater? There’s a camp for that. Want to get CPR certified to grow your babysitting business? There’s a camp for that. Want to be a Ninja Warrior? Sorry, no camp for that… just kidding, of course there is a camp for that! (What’s a summer without ninjas!)
Let’s look at a fan favorite…
CAMP LION: This camp is an epic adventure for lower school camps! It’s a series of curiosity-driving, energy-releasing, mind-bending activities that reach a crescendo in a glorious day of water games. Have you ever tried slip-and-slide kickball? Yes, it is just as fun as it sounds.
While the activities are incredibly fun, what also makes this camp so impactful for our campers is the love and care of our adult counselors and especially our high school counselors. We all know the feeling when someone you look up to shows you attention, makes you laugh and gives you confidence. It changes you. While the activities are fun, nothing can top that.
Speaking of changes, there are 5 weeks of this camp each with a different theme.
* Session 1: June 13-17 | Color Wars
* Session 2: June 20-24 | Ninja Warriors in Training (in partnership with Ninja Nation)
* Session 3: June 27-July 1 | We Bought a Zoo
* Camps will be closed July 4-8
* Session 4: July 11-15 | Grand Tournament of Totally-Ridiculous-Made-Up Nations
* Session 5: July 18-22 | Name that Food
Whether you join Camp Lion for one week or every week, campers will be part of the journey of making new friends, finding out more about themselves and the world, and sharing the fun of a not-so-traditional summer day camp experience.
You may have noticed ninjas mentioned a few times…
This year Covenant Day is partnering with Ninja Nation to bring you a full ninja obstacle course including the legendary warped wall! (Look it up, it’s awesome!) Campers will participate in ninja activities learning to overcome challenges, build balance, refine skills, and cheer one another on to achieve their best. Though gaining the title of ninja is incredible, this camp is also about learning to problem solve and improve technique. Come challenge yourself, make friends, have fun, and see if you can make it up the warped wall.
And due to their incredible popularity in past years, Covenant Day added two sessions of Basketball, Football, and NERF camps.
Fun story… one of the Covenant Day teachers Ryan Fuderer, came up with the idea of NERF camp this way, “My son kept getting in trouble for shooting his sister with a NERF gun, so I thought to come up with a situation where it’s OK to shoot people with a NERF gun.” Since its inception, NERF camp has completely flipped the script on what a summer camp can be. It’s an exciting time of battles, obstacles, and team building. Each day campers work through different scenarios and settings where campers will need to work together with their teammates to be victorious. (Plus, campers learn to be responsible with a NERF gun, which could benefit whole families.)
There are also several new camps designed this year: Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, Pickleball, and American Girl Doll Camp.
Oh, and did you want to be a star baker? Then join the new camp The Great Covenant Bake Off! This camp will teach young bakers about safety in the kitchen and the importance of following recipes in baking. Campers will bake a variety of treats such as bread, cookies, and cake pops. They will also develop a recipe book so they can recreate their masterpieces at home. (You would not believe the amazing creations these campers make. It’s like a dream Pinterest board!)
