Hey Smarties, have you heard about the Charlotte Football Club, the new Major League Soccer franchise in town that just started its inaugural season? Were you sitting among the 74,479 fans packed into Bank of America Stadium last Saturday night to see the team set a new attendance record for its first game against the L.A. Galaxy? Well, the Charlotte FC is hosting youth soccer clinics around town this spring and camps this summer. You know your soccer-loving kiddos would love a chance to be connected to the team this way. And as a parent you know they’ll be getting top-notch instruction and fun. Read on for the lowdown.
And as an oh by the way, I wanted to share a personal note for all the soccer moms (and dads) out there. In addition to my duties writing about all things Smarty, I’ve taken a gig writing about the Charlotte FC for The Charlotte Ledger in a newsletter called “Futbol Friday.” If you want to learn about the Charlotte FC, its players, the culture, the fanbase, the new traditions, and more, I hope you’ll sign up to follow me there. Not to worry, it’s not written for soccer experts. I’m no expert myself, but it’s been a blast to learn as I go and try to help people in Charlotte who are new to professional soccer understand and enjoy it.
