Our Smarty friends at the Center for Women’s Aesthetics (CFWA) are offering a super Smarty steal when you purchase a medical grade chemical peel. Get a free dermaplane ($95 value) with the purchase of a chemical peel.
I recently had the privilege of getting a custom chemical peel specifically for my skin type and the results were incredible. I had the Ultra Peel, which is a TCA (Trichloracetic Acid) and Lactic Acid peel to address texture, fine lines, wrinkles, pores and uneven skin tone. I have also been getting IPL treatments (more on that in a future blog) so I felt like I shaved a few years off my face! My makeup goes on so much smoother and I can tell so much of my sun damage is already reversing. I plan on getting more of these peels throughout the year. I think my favorite part was the post-treatment serums and creams. My skincare regimen has never been that effective and organized. The serums and creams made my skin feel like butter. Also something to note – there is pain associated with the peel and it varies by person and skin type. I have very sensitive skin, and there was a burning sensation during the procedure, but it was the kind of pain that felt good. Like you know it’s doing what it’s supposed to do. SHAVE OFF 10 YEARS – just kidding, kind of.
Lucky for all of us, CFWA is running an April special, you get a free dermaplane with the purchase of a chemical peel (both must be done at the same time). If you haven’t gotten a dermaplane, I highly recommend – your makeup will go on better than it ever has, your face will feel like a baby’s behind:-) Hurry, this offer ends on Friday, 4/30.

What is in a chemical peel?
The concept of skin peeling has been around for ages, and involves applying an acid or blend of acids to the skin that speeds the exfoliation of skin cells. Your skin goes through a natural regeneration cycle wherein it grows new cells and sheds old ones. This cycle takes about 28 days in the average individual and is meant to renew the skin and keep it healthy. Unfortunately, the natural process isn’t always efficient. For example, individuals with acne may experience more pore clogging due to dead cells being trapped within sebum. Age also plays a role, as the skin has difficulty shedding dead cells as we get older. This leads to problems with skin texture and can contribute to pore clogging and to making the pores appear larger.
Who is a good candidate for a medical grade chemical peel?
Almost everyone can benefit from a chemical peel. Women, men as well as teens can see visible changes in their skin with chemical peels. The science of chemical peels has improved dramatically in recent years, and at the Center for Women’s Aesthetics we can treat a wide array of conditions on all skin types including peels that minimizes pores, erase fine lines and wrinkles, smooths skin, lift the skin, fade discoloration, balance texture, sooth scaring and treat acne.
What age can I start?
Our youngest clients are pre-teens both girl and boys. When puberty starts, acne often does too. The increase of sex hormones called androgen hormones cause your oil glands to become overactive, enlarge, and produce too much oil. A series of chemical peels along with the proper home care routine can help dramatically improve the skin and prevent future acne scars.
What different types of peels are available?
That is one of the best parts about chemical peels, they can be customized so the combination of agents used can be endless. At the Center for Women’s Aesthetics, we evaluate your skin to determine a personalized Chemical peel ranging from very superficial to more aggressive that addresses your skin concerns as well as your desired results.
Recovery time?
There is no downtime with a chemical peel. The day of your treatment, your skin will be pink and feel warm, like a sunburn. The following day your skin will feel tight and dry. Your skin may start to flake and peel starting 2-3 days after the procedure. The amount of “peeling” after the treatment varies depending on the client’s skin type, but generally 3 to 5 days of flaking and peeling can be expected.
What results should I expect?
Once your skin has finished flaking and peeling, you will notice fresh new, glowing skin with improved texture and tone. A series of peels may be recommended to see results depends on the skin condition being treated such as sun damage, wrinkles or acne. Each peel will recharge the health of your skin and get it looking smooth and healthy once again.
