Founder of the Isabella Santos Foundation, Erin Santos, sat down to write a luminary dedication in honor of Isabella, instead she found herself writing a letter to her daughter:
Dear Isabella,
Writing a luminary dedication to you is impossible. Even as I sit here with a blank sheet in front of me, I find the words hard to form. Instead…I just sit here and cry. Every year your birthday is the hardest one for me because I always feel it’s just about us. I thank God today that my heartache won’t be on display the evening of your luminary event because as I get older, it’s just become too private.
In my life now, I have found myself surrounded by teenagers. My home is filled with high-school kids, their friends, and talk of all things that would have been your life. The Isabella Santos Foundation (ISF) is hosting a magical event to benefit childhood cancer in honor of their Isabella’s sixteenth birthday. The Star Light Star Bright Luminary Event on March 9th will honor what should have been their founder Isabella’s “Sweet Sixteen.” You can purchase a luminary dedication to honor her or a loved one affected by cancer. Then as the sun sets on Isabella’s birthday, ISF will light these luminaries to honor cancer fighters everywhere and signify the fight to cure pediatric cancer.
Event proceeds will support the research of Dr. Giselle Sholler at Levine Children’s.
When?
March 9th from 7-8pm, event is private for family only.
How can I donate?
Buy a luminary for $25 here in honor of a loved one fighting cancer.
We’ll share the videos and images shared by ISF on Monday. Please join them in fighting the fight against pediatric cancer.
