Little Smarty Entrepreneur Kate Willette: Day to Day Decals

Smarties, we are over the moon excited to introduce you to this little Smarty superstar! When she is not busy with school work she is grinding it out making stylish and fun personalized products. Smarty favorite – all the above – but, if we had to pick one it would be the personalized cosmetic bag – it is perfect to tote around your mask(s). Without further adieu, we are pleased to introduce you to our newest Little Smarty Superstar, Miss Kate Willette.

Hello! My name is Kate Willette and I am 13. When Charlotte Smarty Pants contacted me to write this post I had the biggest smile on my face. My business is called Day to Day Decals and I make decals for anything from iPads (back to school!!) and water bottles. I started my business towards the end of January of 2019 on Instagram (@daytodaydecals) with only 9 likes, so I knew I had to work harder. At the time, I was going through a lot of stomach issues and had to stop all of my sports. Luckily my doctor, Dr. Ana Maria Temple, the most amazing person in the world, strongly encouraged me to develop my business while I had this new free time. Quickly I started putting together a website and improved my Instagram page which took some time to spread the word about, but I got there! During quarantine I had so many orders to keep me busy.

Some of my favorite things to make for my customers are decals for personalized cosmetic bags, personalized clipboards, and fun personalized bookmarks, which are great for any back-to-school reading. One of my most popular items are the wine glasses with decals… great to have as presents and just for around the house. Back-to-School has been hectic, but luckily a few of my products can help with the chaos. Schools are requiring students to wear masks. Did you know my clear cosmetic bag can dual as a mask bag?! They fit perfectly in a student’s backpack or in a purse. On the front of the bag may be your name and on the back you can choose to put a fun, “face mask required” image. These clear cosmetic bags come in trim colors from metallic to colorful to black. Since water fountains are now closed, I have found that customized water bottles are a big hit for the new school year.

I make all of my products in my little home office with my Cricut and a variety of fun vinyl. I just added some new Lilly Pulitzer inspired vinyl and orange, mint green, and teal glitter vinyl! You may be wondering how long it takes for me to make these. Well I am so excited when an order comes through that I get working as soon as possible to finish your order in 1-3 days! Now, in the present day, I am working on an Etsy store. I will let you know when it is launched (fingers crossed soon).
