If you’re looking for a fun way for your teen to stay active in between sports/dance seasons (or over the summer), head straight to Pure Barre. My 14-year-old has been coming with me to class for about six months and has loved every minute of it (Ok, maybe not EVERY minute – those planks aren’t something everyone loves :-)). We’ve had SO much fun taking class together. It’s a great way to spend 50 minutes together – we love to make it a Mom/Daughter date and sneak off Rico’s or the juice bar after class. In a world that constantly tells me raising teen girls is hard, finding this shared fitness love with my daughter has been a ray of sunlight. It’s the absolute best.
So what makes Pure Barre such a great workout for Gen Z? Here are my Top 5.
Five things your teen is sure to love about Pure Barre
1. It’s the perfect complement to any sport/dance/cheer routine.
Pure Barre is a low-impact, core-focused, ATHLETIC workout, which makes for AWESOME crosstraining. I’m a runner. My daughter is a cheerleader. We both need all the core work we can get, and that’s exactly what Pure Barre offers – and then some. Plus, there are class times all day – teens can fit it in before or after school/activities/studying without a problem.
2. The music is pretty amazing.
Pure Barre is musically-driven, which means the class is centered around a beat. It makes for a super fun and FAST workout. She’ll hear her fave current tunes as well as some “oldies” (and by “oldies” I mean “Rain King” by Counting Crows…cheers to Spring Break ’94!).
3. It’s a workout you can do for life.
Since it’s so low impact, Pure Barre can be practiced for YEARS – sometimes even through other sports-related injuries. Teens learn how to focus on how their bodies move, how to make themselves stronger, and how to push just a little bit harder every class. It’s such good mental and physical training. And with so many Pure Barre locations around the country, she’s sure to find her own PB tribe near her college campus and continue the love there.
4. Choices matter.
Pure Barre offers three different types of classes – Classic, Empower, and Reform. You can click here to learn more about each class, but it’s safe to say she’ll be challenged constantly in new ways with each class type. No boredom here.
5. It’s all about feeling empowered within a community.
Pure Barre is about body love – that is love the body you’re in. Pure Barre instructors make every class a positive experience, which goes a long way in shaping the self-image of a self-conscious teen girl. If you want your daughter to be surrounded by healthy, positive role models in fitness, Pure Barre is the place to be. With women of all shapes, sizes, and ages in every class, Pure Barre is the perfect foundation for a life-long love of fitness, healthy body image, and community.
