If you are a parent, educator or childcare professional, you need to know about Joined in Education (JIE). JIE is a two-day educational symposium designed to provide high-quality parenting and professional development to the greater Charlotte community. In its eight years, JIE has brought nationally recognized speakers to Charlotte to discuss relevant and topical parenting and educational issues thorough keynote addresses an workshops. At the supporting workshops, participants have the opportunity to dig deeper into issues with experts in the field and learn real-life techniques to apply in the home and classroom.
New York Times Bestselling author Dr. Wendy Mogel will deliver the keynote address and kick off JIE 2019. Her deft approach to parenting is both practical, precise and applicable to parents of children of all ages. Mogel will speak about her new book Voice Lessons for Parents-What to Say, How to Say it and When to Keep Quiet. She begins with the tone and cadence of toddlers to negotiating with preschoolers and setting boundaries for older children. Dr. Mogel’s last appearance in Charlotte was to a sold-out audience at Knight Theater and a second sold out talk at Temple Israel.
The conference will continue the following day with a talk from National Public Radio National Education Reporter, Anya Kamenetz, who will speak on Surviving Social Media and Technology with Your Family and Real Life. Following her talk, there will be additional interactive workshops for parents featuring technology and a dynamic track of educators featuring Dr. Mogel, and Better Lessons, a workshop to help educators implement more individualized curriculums in their classrooms. This is an incredible gathering of nationally recognized parenting experts in Charlotte, January 30 & 31.
