I always knew I’d have portraits done of my children as soon as I became a mom. Being the youngest of four, I didn’t have much documentation of my childhood. My girlfriend has the most precious painting of her as a little girl and that’s when I knew I had to do this for my children.
When my girls were four, I stayed true to my promise and had portraits made. But then my boys came along and I swear I blinked and they were 10 years old! I knew I wanted to do my boys’ portraits a little differently, not so formal and not so big as I didn’t have much wall space left. My girlfriend has the most gorgeous portraits of her boys and I instantly fell in love.
Her portraits were done by ART GALLERY ORIGINALS and I immediately connected with Hannah Davis (founder). She reassured me that it’s never too late to have portraits made of your children. So off to work we went. First step – getting the boys photographed. When you get your children photographed for portraits, it’s very different than a regular photo. They pay specific attention to light, composition, and expression. It is actually a very fascinating process. My good friend, Julia Wolfinger, is a photographer and she did an AMAZING job with these photos:
I’m super excited because my portraits should be arriving any day now, just in time to get framed for my hubby’s Christmas gift! I can’t wait to see how the artist captures my boys’ expressions, especially challenging because they are identical twins! Stay tuned to find out which photos were selected for the portraits and most importantly, check out the finished portraits!
