Carolina Barre & Core
“Carolina Barre & Core is for you, and everyone you know. You will find and embrace your core, strengthen and tone your muscles and create a greater sense of peace. love, and community. Carolina Barre & Core is where to go for barre classes in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC.”
New Location
Smarties, have you been to this little gem of a studio? I am not sure what it was like before, but I am here to tell you, Carolina Barre & Core’s new spot is FAB! Located in the hippest shopping center in Charlotte, you are able to plan an entire outing around your workout schedule. You can make a day out of it and hit all the stops.
If you haven’t already guessed —> Carolina Barre & Core has moved to the Park Road Shopping Center. You can find their studio quietly tucked away in the backlot. Swing around Michaels, pass by Amelie’s (on the left) and Jami Masters School of Dance (on the right), follow the signs, take a left and voila, there it is. We love it – and we know you will too!
* Plenty of parking. Just outside of the chaos of pedestrians and cars (Smarties, these are all the things you have to think about when you drive a giant SUV).
The New Studio Space
Okay, now that we know where Carolina Barre & Core has relocated. Let me tell you about the inside. Are you ready? Close your eyes, imagine this. As you enter, you are greeted by the friendliest staff/teachers. At the front desk, they have an amazing display of sticky socks. The colors are bright, but subtle and vibrant at the same time. Everyone is smiling and people are talking to each other as they are putting there stuff in their locker and preparing for class.
The set up and décor give off a combination of a modern-vintage, feminine vibe. For example, an old elevator shaft was turned into the retail area (FYI right now, they have leggings for 75% in a sale box.) and as you walk around the corner you will find old school lockers to use while taking a class.
The studio space will take your breath away. The colors are aesthetically appealing to the eye. I love the extra detail of the orange and gray balls carefully lined up on the barre. Everything has it’s place. The space is framed with mirrors that bounce the most amazing light from the chandeliers. Yes smarties, I said chandeliers. Amity didn’t miss a beat! She paid attention to every little detail. And because of this, she was able to create an intimate, cozy space for her clients. I absolutely adore this studio.
What is Barre Fusion?
“Barre fusion fuses the disciplines of core and strength conditioning, pilates, yoga and ballet. You get a total body and comprehensive workout as you lift, tone, and sculpt your muscles through isometric holds and isolated movements and focus on proper alignment/form, flexibility and posture. our teachers will target each of your muscle groups to the point of exhaustion and then stretch those muscles in a way to promote long and lean growth. Suitable for every fitness level, modifications and adjustments are made to challenge everyone safely. it is recommended to participate in this class at least three times a week to start seeing body transformation.”
Class Breakdown
Stall barre: the stall barre is a piece of rehabilitative equipment for maintaining the health of the back. as one hangs from the barre, the spine tends to fall into natural alignment using the simple principles of gravitational pull. also, it will maximize the space between each vertebra, maintaining the length of the spine while minimizing the compression of the discs.
Warm up: we require everyone to warm up. this helps to reduce injuries and helps set the tone and intention for the class.
Upper Body: shoulders, arms, chest and upper back
Lower Body: legs, gluteals, abdominals and lower back Savasana and final stretch
Throughout the class are series of stretching and the core is always engaged.
