Smarty readers likely know a fashionista or two…or ten! But have you ever met a “compassionista?” According to UrbanDictionary.com, a compassionista is a person devoted to living compassionately and inspiring compassion in others. And what happens when you combine fashionistas and compassionistas? Well, hopefully you raise awareness and money for Fashion & Compassion! On Thursday, October 4, 2018, compassionistas from Fashion & Compassion will host their first annual Evening of Dignity fundraiser at Anne Neilson Fine Art Gallery.
Based in Dilworth, Fashion & Compassion (F&C) runs programs in Charlotte, North Carolina and also partners with Artisan projects in six other countries. F&C supports vulnerable women overcoming poverty, injustice and exploitation during three local jewelry making projects each week.
On October 4, Fashion & Compassion hostesses (“Compassionistas”) and their guests will gather at the Anne Neilson Fine Art Gallery to sip wine, nosh on apps, and chat about how they can support the amazing women who participate in F&C’s artisan programs. Founder Michele Dudley will be present to highlight the incredible work Fashion & Compassion is doing right here in Charlotte and around the world (Michele was also a Smarty Mom! Click here to read her interview).
If you’d like to learn more about Fashion & Compassion, please email board member Lisa Farley or founder Michele Dudley. Be sure to to stop by the Fashion & Compassion boutique at 1717 Cleveland Avenue in Dilworth. Because who doesn’t love beautiful jewelry for a good cause? It’s never too early to start holiday shopping…or birthday shopping…or shopping just ‘cuz! And if you’re able, F&C can’t do it alone! Click here to donate.
