You took your child to the eye doctor after they complained about not being able to see the board in school, and sure enough, they need glasses. So, now you have to help them pick out some frames. What do you do?
Helping your child choose their glasses
We all want to look good in our glasses, and our children are no different. But picking out a good-looking set of frames isn’t just choosing a color they like. The shape of their face is an important factor. For example, someone with a round face will want different frames than someone with an oval or triangular face. Different frames will accentuate different features, and choosing the right shape will make sure your child looks best in their glasses.
Your child’s complexion and hair color are also important factors. People with warm tones – such as skin with a yellow tone or dark brown hair – will want frame colors like gold, orange, or red. On the other hand, people with cooler tones – like strawberry blonde hair or skin with blue or pink undertones – will want a color like black or silver.
When your teenager wants contact lenses
What if you have a teenager who’s worn glasses for a few years and wants to make the switch to contact lenses? After your teenager gets an eye exam and their new prescription, they are referred to an eye tech, who will work with them to find the right contact lenses for their vision needs, CEENTA Eye Ancillary Services Manager Jay Russell said. Because people’s eyes have different sensitivity levels, the tech will also work with your teen to make sure their contacts are comfortable. This includes finding contacts with the appropriate water content and curvature most suited for their eyes.
