Lumecca. Doesn’t it sounds like an exotic location? Well, it might not be a destination however it is M-A-G-I-C-A-L. Lumecca is basically a “photofacial” that removes sun damage, sun spots, rosacea, spider veins, scarring from acne and other skin issues.
Lumecca is the most powerful technology of its kind. Many of the issues Lumecca treats aren’t treated by traditional plastic surgery. Using intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, Lumecca is the gold standard for treating with skin pigmentation and other skin issues. Lumecca uses “photothermolysis” (say that three times fast), which is a comfortable “photofacial” light treatment”. It is a safe and comfortable skin renewal treatment that requires far fewer treatments than traditional IPL.
Smarty Susan and Smarty Liz recently road-tested Lumecca with our friends at Providence Plastic Surgery. Here’s their stories!
Smarty Liz
Yes, you can call me a face virgin. I have never done anything to my face before. Besides having one exfoliating gentle peel, I am a total newbie to any face treatments. I am not sure why?? I think I didn’t know what to do and where to do it. I want to age gracefully like we all do and I want to look natural. I was never ready for Botox and was never ready for regular chemical peels.
BUT…something that has always bothered me was some skin spots. Some came from the sun (freckles) and some I call “pregnancy spots”. They came out when I was pregnant and just never went away. Ugh! I have tried bleaching creams for years, but only saw minimal improvements. When given the opportunity to try the Lumecca/IPL, I was thrilled. I was excited to go to Providence Plastic Surgery and meet with Sheri Ray. Sheri was fabulous. She helped this nervous, cautious mama through the treatment and then it was done. My face was a little sensitive for the first day or 2 after then immediately the spots she treated darkened and then slowly within in 7-9 days slow sloughed off. They were gone!! It is amazing to see the change in my complexion. I love it! I feel brighter and fresher and more like the 38 year old me I want to be. (check out the results for yourself)

Now, I’ve got 99 problems and flawless skin ain’t one. People that have that perfect-angel-skin will find me staring at their face. If you are Lucy Liu or Gisele (no last name needed) or haven’t hit 40 yet, then dark spots on your skin are lovingly called freckles. They are cute. They are defining. They are even desired in the modeling world these days. On me? Freckles are called “git-yo-ass-out-the-sun-spots”. These spots are so aging to me personally (on my face) and I’ve been obsessed with trying to get rid of the face of the bad, non-sunscreen wearing version of myself.
I had a consult with Sheri Ray, RN, BSN, who walked me through the details and answered all of my stupid questions. Sheri did my first Lumecca treatment in August and I had wonderful results. My skin is now even toned (even without tinted moisturizer or powder!) and has a glow. Lumecca is a miracle worker…better than any potion in a jar.
The fall is the perfect time to have this done because you will not be in the sun, at the beach, or lazing away the weekend by the pool and prior to Lumecca you have to be “sun free” before and after. Call Providence Plastic Surgery and go in for a free consult. What do you have to lose?
