It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. – Mother Teresa
If you didn’t get enough hearts (and hopefully flowers) yesterday, we’re about to share a few more! Here are a few nonprofits in Charlotte that are all about “hearts” and “love” in one way or another – so much so that it’s right in their name! We hope you’ll take this opportunity to discover something new about the “heart” of Charlotte – our nonprofit community!
HEART Tutoring recruits and trains volunteers to work as one-on-one math tutors in Title I elementary schools during the school day. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with kids and watch the impact your time and care has on their lives.
HeartMeter donates gently used and new video games and accessories to local hospitals for use by kids going through extended treatments like chemo and physical therapy. This is a great way to put those games your kids have “aged out” of to good use.
Heart Bright Foundation focuses mainly on cardiovascular wellness and education, with a free clinic in the South End area which helps patients that have (or at high risk for) heart disease or diabetes. You can get involved as a Donation Coordinator – it takes just a few hours per month.
Love, INC works to meet the needs of the poor, elderly and disabled by providing services like house cleaning, yard work and more. You can find out more about them at their upcoming Cornhole and ‘Cue event in April or get a group together for a Ramp In Up! project to build a wheelchair accessible ramp for a client. If you’ve ever considered being involved as a board member, this could be the perfect opportunity! Love INC is looking for board members with skills in marketing, corporate relationships and public relations.
Faith, Hope & Love is an after school care program working to bring underachieving students (ages K-8) up to grade level. Get involved as a tutor by mentoring a child for just one hour a week, Monday-Thursday from 5-6pm.
