Move over, owls. Step aside, birds. Party’s over, hedgehogs. THIS is the year of the hot dog dog. Have you noticed? Dachshunds are popping up everywhere – from wrapping paper to sweaters; from holiday decor to tableware. Yes, maybe I notice dachshunds out and about a little more than the average girl because this is what has greeted me every morning for the last thirteen years (minus the costume, of course):
See all that gray? It’s called stress. Stress from living with four kids when you hate kids (yep, dachshunds don’t love kids – their plight in life is that they are kid magnets). Stress from having to be the punchline every single Halloween. Stress from knowing you’re 91 in dog years and the beds keep getting higher and fluffier, but you’re not getting any taller.

Target, Container Store, Old Navy, even Nordstrom’s are jumping on the bandwagon and are having a little fun with these so-called sausage dogs (c’mon Pottery Barn Kids – replace the owls with a dachshund-inspired room!).
