Sea Life Charlotte-Concord Aquarium is putting a fun twist on a holiday tradition this year with a visit from “Scuba Claus” and his elf. The brave Santa and elf are greeting guests in a 117,000-gallon Ocean Tank through Christmas Eve. They also were on hand over the weekend to announce the aquarium’s $500 holiday shopping spree giveaway by carrying a beribboned box to the bottom of the sea floor.
To enter to win the $500 Visa® gift card prize, visitors must fill out an entry form and drop it in the box located at the Ocean Tank viewing window. Until the winner is announced on Dec. 25, the $500 prize will be housed inside a clear, acrylic box submerged inside the Ocean Tank. Blacknose sharks, armed with rows of sharp, serrated teeth, will guard the box while it’s inside the tank (Sea Life assures us that while blacknose sharks they’re actually quite docile – but we’re pretty sure no one is diving into a tank full of sharks to steal the prize 😉 ).
Scuba Claus and his elf will greet visitors from inside the Ocean Tank on Dec. 13, 20, 23 and 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. General admission tickets can be purchased for as low as $14 online at www.visitsealife.com/charlotte-concord.
