The villagers blame him for their dying crops and sour milk in this charming tale, but he is a peace-loving, poetry-spouting dragon who would much prefer a cup of tea to a battle. When dragon-slayer Saint George arrives, the dragon and his young friend, Glaston, face quite a challenge, and the mismatched duo sets out to change the hearts and minds of the villagers.

Summary: Every Friday night, Charlotte’s favorite food trucks gather on the lot at the corner of Park and Camden in the Historic South End. These aren’t the roach coaches of yesteryear! The nationwide revolution of the food truck industry has hit Charlotte, and we’ve got an ever-growing community of trucks that cater to your every taste. From burgers to tacos to soul food to cupcakes to ice cream and everything in between…there’s something for everyone. Meeting every Friday night since February 2012, Food Truck Fridays have taken the city by storm. Periodically featuring entertainment as well, the crowds have swelled to over 1,000 each week. We’re family and dog-friendly, too! So bring a chair, bring a blanket, BYOB, bring the kids, take the dog…it’s a neighborhood night out in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Most of the trucks accept credit cards as well as cash. Accessible by public transportation…take the light rail to Bland Station. A good time and great food are guaranteed!

41st Annual Dilworth Criterium

Summary: The historic 41st Annual Dilworth Criterium is set to take place on Saturday April 12, 2014. The Dilworth Criterium is a bicycle race and festival designed to attract professional and amateur cyclists from all of the country to the beautiful Dilworth Neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina.
For 2014, we’re expanding the schedule to allow more adult trike races and family activities including the free kid’s races. Kids from 2 to 12 can come out and race on anything with a seat and wheels – tricycle, bicycle, unicycle, you name it, we’ll let ‘em race!

Summary: Wrapping up the 2014 North Carolina Science Festival, UNC Charlotte will host a free, public Science and Technology Expo on the lower campus mall, facing the Student Union on Sunday, April 13, from 10 am – 2 pm. There is convenient free parking in the nearby Union Deck, and food available on site and at the Student Union. Make a day of it and see some of the coolest science this side of… well, anywhere!
The Expo will feature over 100 activities for the science-curious of all ages, including hands-on educational presentations and fascinating displays developed by UNC Charlotte science faculty — engineering demonstrations, computer and software explorations, all kinds of cool robots in action, lab tours in the life sciences, STEM education activities, environmental science, rockets, high altitude balloons, the nearby UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens in full bloom… and much, much more.
