When did you start your own business and how did you decide to start Precise Style??
I started Precise Style almost a year ago. I have been a business owner previously and knew, now that my kids are getting older, that I wanted to go back to work. I could see there was a real need for this kind of personal, dedicated service in home organization. Well, how many times have you heard “do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life”? I never knew what that meant. Now, I do. I love my job. Corny, I know.
Who utilizes your services the most?
The people that want to live in a peaceful, calm environment. What we do gives them a chance to truly enjoy their time together at home. We don’t just de-clutter and organize; we maximize family time and give the homeowner back their control.
What does Precise Style offer?
In the arena of home organization, we offer clients a stress-free existence. Clutter is very taxing, and we strive to completely rid our clients of that style of living. We build a framework together that is sustainable and then implement it. Think of Precise Style as a personal trainer for your home organization.
Do you have a few favorite items you use to help clients get organized?
Anything and everything at Container Store. If I could take only a few items to an abandoned island? Hands down, that would be the Linus Binz that are available in all different sizes. They would serve me well in my pantry, fridge, freezer and bathroom on my abandoned island.
What is the best compliment you have received from a client?
I’ve been fortunate enough to be the recipient of some amazing compliments that are genuinely so kind and thoughtful. I think one of my favorites to date is: “The best part of working with you is the feeling which lasts well after the project is completed. You are like a shot of B12 bringing order, peace, and a lightened sense of family life. Everything feels better, including my heart”. This one actually made me cry, which is not easy to do.
Switching roles a bit…
What is your favorite thing to do with your family on the weekends?
A family bike ride to Starbucks, consuming a Frappacino the size of my head, sending myself into a diabetic coma, then stopping to play at the park on the way home.
What is the last meal you cooked (include recipe if you want)?
Plain buttered noodles with parmesan cheese. I can actually cook pretty well, but this was truly the last meal I cooked. Truth hurts.
In what ways has being a mom changed you?
It has made me add a line item to our family budget that includes regular visits to Charlotte Skin and Laser. Seriously, what has happened to my face in the last 6 years? It’s like there are weights attached to it. Although that is a serious answer, being a mom has made me appreciate my mother even more. I totally get “it” now.
Funniest thing your children have ever said to you?
Ava Jane and I were playing make believe, and she said, “Let’s pretend to go to the mall to get Eve (as in Adam & Eve) some clothes”. Right on!
Who makes you laugh the most?
Everyone. For all different reasons. Last time I laughed so hard I cried was elicited by my tennis partner two weeks ago. Uncontrollable laughter. The kind that you get in trouble for. The kind that makes you lose weight. Awesome!
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I am really handy and can fix almost anything. Don’t get jealous. It’s genetic. My grandfather was the stuff myths were made of, and my dad is legendary.
Best book you’ve ready lately?
The girls and I are reading Animal Encyclopedia. Did you know that a beaver’s teeth never stop growing? No, I know you didn’t know that. No one knows that except for a beaver, the author of Animal Encyclopedia, me and now you.
Favorite TV Show these days.
Duck Dynasty. I could watch it all day.
Do you have a celebrity crush & Who?
Yes, Willie from Duck Dynasty.
Behavioral trait you hope your kids don’t inherit from you.
Most of them.
Guilty pleasure?
An incredibly disgusting amount of pasta.
