Ignorant Mom Tosses Priceless Piece of Artwork. Child losses her mind. Family saved by Artkive!
I am a compulsive tosser. If it isn’t necessary, I will toss it. Yes, I’m “green” so I will certainly recycle if applicable. I just hate having too much stuff.
School art tortures me . . .
I love it,
I treasure it,
I must toss it.
I try to keep the artwork with meaning. The hand prints, the lovely poems, the priceless treasures that just can’t be crumpled and forgotten. These items go into bins and are labeled and left. Occasionally I shift through the bins and try to recall what exactly the story was behind the project. Most of them have fallen apart, ripped or faded. I try to sort through some of the items and throw them away before my children see what I’ve done. I’m never sneaky enough. I’m always caught and I feel totally ignorant for not seeing Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” in the messy painted glop on the page. My children cry and lose their minds. My heart breaks.
I have always thought that there must be a better way! Finally, there is.
