Smarty Fly Dad Contestant – Ben Prosser
When we got the news that our “unplanned” pregnancy was twins, with a 3 yo and 15 mo at home, my husband’s response was “God must think we’re special”. He is now an awesome stay-at-home-dad of our kids aged 8 (twins), 10, and 13 – juggling soccer/baseball/track/voice/guitar/piano/Girl Scouts and so on. He’s an awesome cook, teaches Sunday school, and volunteers at the kids’ school. He’ll drive to 6 bakeries in Charlotte to find a King Cake on Fat Tuesday to go along with his gumbo so we can have a fun family dinner. He schedules one-on-one date nights with the girls and “dude time” with our only son. He’s my rock star!

Smarty Fly Dad Contestant #2 – Christian Ciciarelli
I would like to nominate my husband, Christian Ciciarelli for Smarty Fly Dad 2013.
My husband has been Super Dad since the day our son was born (he was 8 weeks early). Our son has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic heart condition called Timothy Syndrome (LongQT8) which affects all parts of his body. Super Dad has been there every step of the way through numerous surgeries, therapies, doctor’s appointments and various scares along the way, Christian has been the strength that holds our little family together. He stays positive when I’m down; he fights the good fight to make sure our son has the best life possible. I’d love for him to get the recognition he deserves in being the best dad to our little Lee!
Thank you for the opportunity to nominate my wonderful husband!
Cheers,
Mary Ann Ciciarelli

Smarty Fly Dad Contestant #3 – Jamie Black
I would like to nominate my husband, Jamie Black for the “Smarty Fly Dad” contest.
Without question, the backbone of our family is my husband. His dedication to fatherhood, our marriage and our home is beyond verbal definition. My two daughters ages 10 and 5 say his hugs are their “safe place” and I cannot disagree with that statement. Jamie stays home with our girls so that I can enjoy the career that I love. There are many times when his patience should perceivably run out and miraculously it just doesn’t. While he is clearly outnumbered in our home from a gender perspective (even our cat is a girl), he takes it in stride and can often be found at the other end of a bottle of nail polish. His girls come first and to that there is no exception. It was serendipitous that we crossed paths 16 years ago and for that I will be eternally grateful and more than just a little bit lucky.

Smarty Fly Dad Contestant #4 – Edward Donaldson
I am the wife to a man who I call my super Hero! Edward Samuel Donaldson is one of the most giving men you will ever meet. How do I put into words what a blessing he has been to my 3 children and to myself. As you can see in the photo he could use a night out you could say:) It all started in 2007 when I went on complete bedrest at 26 weeks with our 1st son. He did everything in the entire house including cleaning the toilets:) Then, in 2009 we decided to give our son a brother. We found out he had a heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries and would require open-heart surgery. So we had to move out of state for 4 months so we would be near the surgeon when we delivered. My unselfish husband didn’t think twice. He said, “I’m going with you and will be by your side through this”. He had to leave his job for 4 months and was my ROCK through it all. In 2011, we had a little girl to add to our bunch and after the delivery I had a prolapsed uterus and went back on bedrest for 6 weeks. Well, that being said you know what that means. He did it all. He cooked, cleaned, took the kids to church, school etc… My husband never asks for anything in return. He never asks for a night out with “the guys” or a break even though you can tell he needs it. What an honor it would be for him to receive a little token of appreciation for the man he is. My superHero is so humble he wouldn’t believe it if he actually won:)!! Thanks so much Smarty Pants for this opportunity!

Smarty Fly Dad Contestant #5: Todd Buelow
Best. Dad. EVER. Todd Buelow
He potty trained our girls all by himself (can I quit now?) He’s coached their soccer teams for a collective 6 years (ALL PINK, ALL THE TIME). He plans business trips around swim meets, he works from home so he can be at the bus stop and hear about their days. He thumb wrestles me to put them to bed at night and ALWAYS reads an extra book. He goes early to dance recitals to save the front row seats (4 years running) and he can’t help but yell their name at a record noise level after every performance. But, most of all, he loves them. He really, really loves them, a love they will never question because he’ll never give them any reason to.
