Have you seen the new additions to the Magic Kingdom? Disney’s Fantasyland, which had been under construction for more than a year, finally opened in late 2012. It allows guests to explore the amazing world of Ariel, Belle, Snow White and Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Here are a few of the highlights:
Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid : An all new attraction during which you travel with Ariel and her friends through their adventures above and below the waves-all against a magical backdrop of songs from the classic film.
Castle of the Beast: Stands majestically upon a hill just across an old stone bridge from Ariel’s new home. Be Our Guest Restaurant will feature a dining experience in the elegant ballroom, gallery, and mysterious “West Wing” of the castle. With seating for 550, this facility offers great fast food service by day, which does not require reservations, and full service dining in the evening. Due to the popularity of this new restaurant, you should consider making reservations as early as 180 days prior to your arrival.
Nearby you will find Belle’s Village and cottage, which houses Enchanted Tales with Belle. The adventure begins in Maurice’s workshop, where a magical mirror is the doorway to a captivating new kind of storytelling experience. You will be transported to the Beast’s library where you meet Belle and Lumiere, and share in a lively, interactive, re-telling of the tale as old as time.
Storybook Circus: Features some of the old favorites with an updated twist. You will find two airborne pachyderm carousels, featuring Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the classic Barnstormer rollercoaster, Fantasyland Rail Station, a circus themed Soak-n-Splash Station, and a new Character Greeting spot. It will feature Minnie, Daisy, Goofy and Donald.
Princess Fairytale Hall will be the new home for meeting Aurora, Cinderella, Tiana, Rapunzel and any other princesses who may be in the neighborhood, opening soon this Spring. Next year we will be introduced to the Seven Dwarf Mine Train, which will be the new rollercoaster for any Snow White fans.
Disney boasts several other new experiences and renovations throughout their parks.
For the more adventure seeking guest also opening this Spring is the interactive Pirate Quest in the Magic Kingdom. In the Pirate Adventure, Treasure of the Seven Seas, you will use a pirate map and magic talisman to complete pirate raids throughout Adventureland. Locate treasures of the Seven Seas and fight off pirate enemies to be welcomed as part of Captain Jack’s crew.
For all you Smarties with little Star Wars followers, the official Star Wars Weekends begin in Hollywood Studios May 17-June 9th. Join celebrities, and your favorite Star Wars characters for special shows, autographs, presentations and more. Most events are included in your park admission. My kids have thankfully not hit this faze yet but I understand these are some serious fans!!
Lastly, if you are planning a trip to the parks anytime soon you can download a free app called My Disney Experience. It will allow you to find attraction info with wait times, make dining reservations and more. It is available at the App Store, Google Play and Amazon Apps.
