Did you know that September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month? My guess is you probably do thanks to local Cookies for kids’ Cancer HERO, Smarty Mom Amy Christenbury. Amy has been championing local fundraising efforts to cure kids’ cancers, all in honor of her ‘lil Smarty Warrior, Grier (www.caringbridge.org/visit/grierchristenbury), who is in the fight of his life with Stage IV neuroblastoma. Grier was diagnosed on March 27, 2007. Since that day, Amy has not stopped rallying every single person and business in this town to help in her fight.
September 1st kicks off the 3rd Annual “30 Days for a Cure” and just look at these local AND national brands getting behind this amazing woman. We couldn’t be more proud of Amy and her family! Seriously, this Smarty Mama needs to run for president – she can move mountains!
Smarties, it’s important to look at this calendar and look at it often. By visiting these businesses on the designated days, YOU will be helping children’s cancer research. That’s all I need to know to get a FREE HALL PASS to shop from my hubby – no questions asked:-) Smarty bonus – many are offering exclusive discounts on their days, Lilly Pulitzer SouthPark and Vineyard Vines to name-drop a few!
Feast your eyes, Smarty Charlotte, and enjoy the month of shopping and dining and feel good about the difference you are making!

This says “local” fundraising but that must just mean it happens here because it certainly doesn’t stay here. Look at the federal tax information that they are req to submit and you wont see 1 cent coming back remotely close to charlotte kids fighting cancer. Very misleading c4kc. Educate yourself before blindly supporting just any kids cancer org. My nephew lost his battle w cancer and im very passionate about helping organization that help local families like mine was.
Nothing is more tragic than the life of a child being lost to this devastating disease – our hearts go out to you for the loss of your nephew. You are correct – when the article describes “local fundraising,” it is speaking to fundraising held locally in Charlotte. We welcome you to reach out to us personally at Cookies for Kids’ Cancer (info@cookiesforkidscancer.org) to learn more about how we inspire individuals to raise funds and then make sure those funds go toward new, improved therapies for pediatric cancer that will ultimately help kids all across the country. We appreciate your feedback and agree – before anyone gives, they should know who they are giving to. We hope to hear from you soon.
Best,

Please see my comment below for you.
Timothy D- feel free to contact me.. I have been raising money for pediatric cancer research in our community for the past five years.. I don’t know many cancer families that would criticize any amount of awareness
And research funds being raised for children especially those by a mom that is caring full time for a child that has stage 4 cancer.
Look forward to hearing from you and hearing your suggestions of making a difference in the lives of kids fighting cancer-
Amy
