Put on your heels and join us for the second annual Stiletto Sprint presented by the Bissell Companies, to benefit the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at Levine Cancer Institute.
Did you know that more 20,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and nearly 70 percent of them are diagnosed at an advanced stage? Ovarian cancer has been called the silent killer because symptoms can be so vague.
Organized by ovarian cancer survivors “The Teal Magnolias,” the second annual Stiletto Spring is a fun way to bring much-needed attention to this very serious disease. One hundred percent of the net proceeds support local excellence in research and care, patient support programs and community awareness.
The event will take place this Saturday, April 28, at SouthPark Mall in the area around Dick’s Sporting Goods. Competitive sprinters will compete in a ~70 yard dash. To be eligible for a top finisher award, heels must be a minimum of 2.5” and have a slim, tapered heel. Prefer to sport your fashionable flats or tennis shoes? Sign up for the non-competitive sprint!
Visit www.tealheels.org to register.
“My entire cancer team was caring and compassionate and helped me understand the diagnosis, assist with insurance issues, and hold my hand held through a clinical trial. Not only do they treat the cancer, they all work to heal the patient emotionally by helping us develop the Stiletto Sprint, a program to raise money and give back,” said Wanda Shearin, Teal Magnolias Ovarian Cancer Support Group member.
More than 400 people turned out for last year’s inaugural event, which raised almost $60,000 for the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at Levine Cancer Institute. Family and friends are welcome too – there will be raffle items, games and much more!
