Tucked away in their cozy home decorated with dollhouse furniture, they survive by “borrowing” what they need from the “human beans” who live above them. But life is too quiet if you ask Arrietty, a typical tween yearning to experience the grown-up world for herself. When the Clocks’ hiding place is discovered, they must venture into the giant universe outside, and Arrietty gets a bigger adventure than she bargained for. This inventive adaptation of Mary Norton’s beloved book transports audiences to a delightful new world. Ages 7+. Cost is $18-$24.

In Tarradiddle Tales, three actors explore four folk tales from different countries: “The Magic Tree,” a Bantu folk tale; “Peter the Fool,” a Danish story; “Spider Talk,” an Anansi story from Ghana; and “Tiger Trap,” from India. This playful show for preschoolers emphasizes storytelling and audience participation. Cost is $10-$12.

Mint Museum of Art Uptown and Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

Join us for a Collaborative Project with Martha Connerton of Kinetic Works, The Mint Museum, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. In a unique twist on the idea of a scavenger hunt, visitors will observe dance performances, and then hunt for the works of art that served as inspiration. Cost is $9, free for children 8-12.

Get involved with the high tech treasure hunt that’s sweeping the nation, and the world! You’ll learn the basics of geocaching, then we will hit the trails to find caches hidden right here at Reedy Creek. Please bring a small item of $1-$5 value if you would like to swap items from a cache. Close toed shoes are recommended. GPS units provided, or bring your own.

The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. presents Go Kids Go from 9am-12pm every Saturday in February! Go Kids Go is a FREE community event for children ages 0-12 and their families which aligns with the JLC’s Healthy Child Initiative. The program encourages and educates children about fun ways to stay active, eating nutritious meals and leading healthy lifestyles. At each event, kids will participate in various fun-filled physical activities, learn about nutrition, safety and disease prevention. Cost is free.

The “Cruelest” Show On Earth is coming back to Charlotte. If you would like to peacefully and respectfully educate the public about the animal abuse they are paying to support and taking their children to see, please join us.
We will meet at the corner of Brevard and East Trade St at 10am on February 4th. There is an 11am show and a 3pm show so hopefully we can get people coming and going.
There are also a number of other protests going on in addition to this so please join any/all that you are able to:

Bears, elephants, tigers, and other animals do not voluntarily ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. They don’t perform these and other difficult tricks because they want to; they perform them because they’re afraid of what will happen if they don’t.
