Smarties, we’re thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Mary DiMenna. As you know, we reached out to Smarty Charlotte as we are expanding our sassy little pink & green site. What are some of your top gift picks for your children this year?
Legos are always a hit at my house! The new Leapfrog Leappad looks cool for my 5 year old. I am trying to keep video games educational as long as I can. My boys are also hoping Santa brings a basketball goal.
Tell us some of your family’s Christmas traditions.
There are so many! We had an elf way long before The Elf on A Shelf came along. My husband grew up with an elf named Elfie. We carry on that tradition with our elf named Tootsie Roll. Tootsie Roll leaves small notes and treats leading up to Christmas, puts pjs under pillows on Christmas Eve and drops surprise chocolate kisses from the air.
Also each year we head to the mountains to cut down our tree and then stop and have Mexican food for lunch.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I am a an adoptive mom. Both of my boys were adopted as newborns here in the US. We are blessed to have built our family with the help of 2 wonderful birthmoms and a great adoption experience. Close friends know but especially because we moved here after my children were born it is not something most know.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Bradley Cooper
Best book you’ve read lately?
I love to read and have a read quite a few good books lately. Still Alice by Lisa Genova has really stuck with me. It is from the perspective of a woman diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and how she copes with her symptoms.
Favorite movie of all time?
Sleepless in Seattle…I know it is sappy!
Minivan or suv?
Minivan, uncool but so easy.
What is your favorite phone app?
I love Keyring! It stores all the barcodes for my loyalty club cards so I don’t have to carry a million cards around.
What is your favorite CSP article?
Jen’s article about Halloween costumes at her house, We went out on Top. I am the catalog costume shopper! Every year I have good intentions to do something different and it just never happens.
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without my”…
Well besides my husband and boys, I could not live without my girlfriends. They have my back, give me a sanity check and make me laugh when I want to cry. They rock!
Thanks, Mary, for sharing your Saturday with us!
