Food Lion Auto Fair

The World’s Largest Automotive Extravaganza returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Food Lion AutoFair annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors. It features more than 50 car clubs and more than 10,000 vendor spaces that offer a huge array of automotive parts and memorabilia. More than 1,500 collectible vehicles of all makes and models will be available for sale in the car corral that rings the 1.5-mile superspeedway. The Food Lion AutoFair will also feature a collector car auction and the Powerade Play Zone for kids with racing-themed inflatable slides, obstacle courses, bounce houses, face painters and interactive displays, such as the Lego Build Zone. Cost is $10; free 12 and younger, $5 parking fee.

Movies Under The Stars
Symphony Park

SouthPark invites local families and friends to gather on the lawn at Symphony Park to enjoy some sizzling summer entertainment! Every Friday from August 5 – 26, the mall will host Movies Under The Stars, a free night of movies and more, where shoppers can enjoy featured films, themed for families, under the stars on an impressive 30-foot screen. To jump-start the night, pre-event activities will entertain the crowd beginning at 7:00 p.m. including a live band. Tasty concessions and cold drinks will be available for purchase all night. This week’s movie is “Rio” (G).

International House: A Children’s World of Play

Join us on Saturday, August 27th, 1:30 – 4:30pm at ImaginOn to play sports and board games, enjoy interactive activities, and explore arts and crafts that are known throughout Africa, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Watch Indian and Bosnian folk dancing, tango and salsa performers, and African drummers. Criss Cross Mango Sauce will be featured, along with many more musical and dance surprises from around the world. Come on out and play with us! Cost is free.

Celtic Festival

Celebrate the rich Celtic heritage in this region with a concert by renowned Loch Norman Pipe Band! Bring your own chairs, blankets, and picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of Scottish Highland Dancing, Piping, and Drumming. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 per adult, $10 per family.

Interested in all things creepy and crawly? Do you love snakes, toads and lizards? Join a naturalist as we hunt for Herptiles (Reptiles and Amphibians) around the Nature Preserve. Cost is $3 per child and $4 for adults. Ages 5 and up.
