We love the elephants. They were always our favorite part of the circus, but we cannot bring ourselves to go to the circus again. Our childhood memories of the circus were shattered when we saw dozens of photos of Ringling Bros. trainers using bullhooks to hook, jab and an electric prod to shock their baby elephants to train them to perform unnatural circus acts, and we learned this is how they've trained these elephants for decades. We love our family pets and cannot imagine allowing someone to abuse and beat them with a fireplace poker to make them perform tricks. We decided we were not going back until they drop the animal acts, that way we’ll know no animals are abused to entertain us. Ringling has assured the public that their baby elephants are being trained with food rewards, patience and love in these photos. A picture is worth a thousand words, videos leave no doubts. http://www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com/bound-babies.asphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdQPSy9zPVAChildren and animals are innocent beings. Both deserve protection from being abused. Please stand up for them.
I've never been, and have never taken my son, so we need to make some circus memories! 🙂 I'd love to take him, and this could be a fabulous early birthday present since he'll be turning 3 in mid-February! sharla.s.collins [*at**] gmail.
We never went to the family as kids, and I want to take my kids so they can experience it. Email is Ceciliarose@flavor1st.com.
My favorite and only circus memory was when I was 9 year old and entered a coloring contest for the local news paper where I won tickets for my family to go… My parents never had enough money to buy the tickets to take us, so I think that is why that experience was so special for me… Now I am now 28 years old and have 2 daughters of my own and would LOVE to share the same experience with them. I know that they would love it and cherish those memories forever.

We've never been to the circus but my husband would love to take our daughter. She loves elephants! ronandwhit (at) gmail (dot) com
I don't remember the show itself but I remember getting a little red canon/gun thing that made yellow sparks when you held the trigger. Probably was a huge fire hazard and would be considered completely inappropriate now-a-days but I loved it back then! I think this would be something my daughter, my husband and I would all enjoy together!llurz @ carolina.rr.com
I have not taken my girls to the circus, but we have tried to see the 'elephant walk' the night before. However, the train was late that night and I took my disappointed girls home. My oldest daugther is in love elephants and I would love for her to see a 'real' one outside of the zoo. My desire is to take my two girls on a 'date' before their baby sister is due in Feb. thanks!shannon_deitz@yahoo.com
Well said Janie. I too will not take my family to the circus until they drop the animal acts.
My parents took us to Ringling Brothers outside of NYC when I was five. First we went to see Santa at Macy's and then to the circus and I still remember it. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to take our boys too!
The Kids favorite live web cam to watch is “The Elephant Sanctuary” in Tennessee. We can watch the elephant’s exhibiting natural behaviors. They especially love Tara an Asian elephant and a stray dog named Bella that live and roam over thousands of acres together. CBS did s heartwarming story about them. http://www.elephants.com/elecam/http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4696315n
My son loves elephants, he's 2.5! We have never been to the circus but we go to the zoo as often as we can to see the elephants and other animals. He has a stuffed animal elephant that he sleeps with every night, named Ellie. He would be lost without her!! I would love to take him to the show and make some new elephant memories with him!! Thanks for this opportunity! ericabates@me.com
My daughter loves all of the circus animals as well as the trapeze artists. Can't forget the pink cotton candy either :)jframpton (at)carolina(dot)rr(dot)com
I have three girls who all have bithdays coming up. I spent my sixth birthday at the circus with my five siblings and parents. It is a birthday I will never forget. From the huge elephants, jumping monkeys, trapeze artists and of course the cotton candy, it was AWESOME!!! My entire family have such a great time. I think the circus is a fabulous event to take the family to see. All ages will enjoy the animals and live entertainment.baumernc@windstream.net
I grew up in a broken home and every year when the circus came to town, that was my special weekend with my daddy. We would watch the elephants march into the coliseum and laugh together at the clown acts. My favorite was always the guy who shot himself from the cannon. We have taken our older child to see the circus when he was younger, but our little girl has not has the chance. It is tough fitting in family entertainment in todays economy. How special it would be to sit and watch the same show with my kids that I used to sit and watch with my daddy. Cotton Candy in hand of course. meghan.hu@gmail.com
The tigers always terrified me, but I loved watching them. I would love to go to the circus again! jean2010@hotmail.com
My greatest circus memory is when my Mom took me when I was 9. I loved unicorns and that year, there was a woman that was some sort of human arrow and for the finale, they were supposed to bring out a real, live unicorn. It ended up looking more like a white goat with a single horn! Instead of being disappointed, my Mom and I got a huge laugh out of it and we still laugh about it today. The circus helps families to make memories, whether funny, magical, or just plain weird. I'd love to take my family to the circus to make some of those memories that we can talk about for years to come! Lori- pixiediva1@yahoo.com
When the circus rolled into town last year, I very eagerly purchased a ticket to take my (then) 2.5yr old little girl. I loved the circus as a kid and could not wait to see her reaction. We happened to have tickets for the Saturday it snowed. I was determined a little snow would not ruin our fun. I left my 7 week old with grandma and convinced my hubby to drive us Uptown in his 4 wheel drive SUV so we could be dropped off close to the door and avoid the icy sidewalks. He gladly agreed as it meant he could sleep in the car in a nearby parking deck while he waited. For 45 minutes, my daughter watched intently (void of expression) and abruptly announced that she was ready to leave. She did not care that we had not seen the tigers yet. I tried to bribe her with food and a toy, but she was done (what kid doesn’t love cotton candy?). I called the hubby to let him know we were ready and heard him say “uh-oh.” Turns out, he decided to read instead of sleep and the interior light zapped the battery. There were no cabs in sight and I was starting to panic when I realized we were right across the street from the CATs bus station. When I told my daughter we were going to ride the bus home, she was ecstatic! She grinned and laughed the entire way home and could not wait to tell Grandma all about the bus ride. Tickets to the Circus $80, one-way bus tickets $4, the lasting memory of the bus ride, “priceless.” So, CSP, now that my daughter and I are both a year older and wiser (haha), it only seems appropriate to try again. Maybe this time, my daughter will remember the circus! theshullfile@hotmail.com
