:
Did you know that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the US, more than car accidents, muggings and rapes combined? At least one in every three women worldwide has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Last year in North Carolina, 68 lives were lost to domestic violence.
CSP is once again proud and honored to partner with the Avon Foundation and the PGA TOUR Wives Association to help make a difference in the lives of thousands of people in North Carolina who are affected by this tragic and senseless act. We want to meet the same goal as last year and be the largest team in the second annual Avon Foundation Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence event, held at the Quail Hollow Championship on Tuesday, April 27th. We need your help again this year.
Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence is a non-competitive, family-friendly event that will raise critical funds and awareness to help end the cycle of domestic violence in North Carolina. Join the CSP team to walk 18 holes (5 miles) and you’ll be sure to enjoy the views on one of North Carolina’s finest golf courses at Quail Hollow Club. Funds raised will be distributed by the Avon Foundation to outstanding organizations in the Charlotte area.
Click here to register for the CSP team and to learn more about the event. Click on “Participate”, then “Register & Join a Team.” The team name is “Charlotte Smarty Pants”, click on this. Scroll down to bottom of page and click on “Join Team.” Then enter team password “smartypants” and join there as a walker. Cost is $25 for the 18-hole walk if you register before April 22, or $35 the day of the walk. Children under 12 are free.
Children and collapsible/umbrella strollers are welcome – although I would recommend that you make this a girls night out event. Because you have to take a bus from the parking lots to the event, strollers can be difficult to transport. Last year, a couple of us found ourselves letting our children in and out of the strollers because they became restless on the walk. Since I work, I loved the opportunity to take my 4 year old an on long walk after work and soak up the beautiful scenery. Others may find it a bit more of a hassle than they bargained for. It’s up to you.
All of the Smarties were out there last year in full force. It was a wonderful event. A great way to get some exercise, enjoy this beautiful weather, time with your friends and support a great cause. We would love your support again this year! Come find us (you won’t miss the pink and green) and wear your Smarty CSP colors so we can blanket Quail Hollow with CSP support!
This event is rain or shine. Check-in begins at 3:30pm at Forest Hill Church (7224 Park Road). Note: you MUST check in at Forest Hill Church and take the shuttles. Walkers and spectators are not permitted to drive directly to the Quail Hollow Club and no drop-offs. The 18-hole walk starts at 6:00p. Walkers must check in no later than 30 minutes prior to their start time. Shuttles will be provided from Forest Hill Church. Transport to the golf course will take approximately 10 minutes. Please allow sufficient time for arrival, registration, and transportation to the event.
Also, email us if you’d like to buy our super cute Smarty Pink & Green CSP t-shirts. We’re selling them for $15 at the event. So bring your $ and you can whip it on when you get there.
Let’s get smarty and make a difference in the lives of thousands who are affected by domestic violence in North Carolina by registering as part of the CSP Team for the 2nd annual Walk the Course Against Domestic. We look forward to seeing everyone!
