One week and counting until the big day and the excitement is certainly mounting in our house! My mom got us this cute little Santa that has numbered blocks so you can count down the days and Jake looks forward to changing them every morning (after, of course he tracks down Elfie’s newest location). And even though she doesn’t exactly know what’s in store, Ryanne is also totally caught up in the lights and magic of Christmas. So imagine their utter surprise and delight when they each got a personalized video email from the big man himself?
Yup – that’s right, Santa sent both Jake and Ryanne the cutest video (with a little help from Grandpa elf) using the Portable North Pole console, a technological breakthrough that makes real-time communication with the North Pole possible! Santa talked to them each by name, looked them up in his book (complete with a picture), and knew special little details like where they lived, how old they were, and even what color hair they had. Santa referenced something they had been doing particularly good lately and had an idea of what they wanted for Christmas – very authentic. In fact, the first time I watched it, I was giddy for them!
Check out this website and with a couple quick clicks and a few answers to some questions, you can send a special message to your little ones as well! One other idea – try and discretely video tape their reactions. We did this when Jake watched it for the first time and his video was him just sitting there wide-eyed and in awe. My step-sister said when her 7-year old son watched it, he was totally skeptical at first, but the more Santa talked and seemed to know, the more he bought it. By the end, he was waving good-bye to Santa with the biggest smile on his face.
Got any other special tips or ideas on how to make the holidays that much more magical? Let us know!

Very cute, Tracy. I just created the videos for my children. With all the talk of "no such thing as Santa Claus" on the school bus in front of my 5-year-old I am scrambling to find things like this to prove that talk wrong. Here's another web site that sends you a pic of Santa next to your tree:http://www.santawasinmyhouse.com/Katie M
We did this two nights ago and it was a huge hit for both our 4year old and our 7 year old, so sweet and they both seemed very in to it, especially with their picture in Santa's book, so cool. The other thing that we did last year to help them keep thinking there was a Santa was we took my husband's shoe and dipped it in the ashes from the fireplace and then made foot prints on the fireplace and outside on the deck around the chimney, after that they were sure he was for real!
Fantastic idea. Thanks so much for sharing. CharlotteSmartyPants rocks!!
I did one for each of my kids a few weeks ago and they loved it! For a little grown-up fun you can also send them to friends. Some of my gal pals were amused that Santa had them on his naughty list and knew their vices. Pretty funny!
