One of the things I love about working downtown is the holidays … all the lights, decorations and sounds of Christmas tend to put me in the best mood! I’ve started a yearly tradition each holiday season where I go pick my son up from school for lunch and we stroll around downtown to see all the beautifully decorated trees and displays, stop by to see the Bearstein Bears perform in Founders Hall, and then enjoy a nice mommy/son lunch before heading back to school.
This year’s show offers a compilation of time-honored holiday classics, including: “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Baby,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow” and many more.
There will be daily performances starting Dec. 2 through Dec. 31:
Monday – Friday, 10 and 11 a.m.; noon; 1, 2, 5 and 6 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday, hourly from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Performances are free and times are subject to change. For the latest information, please check back here or call 704.716.8649.
The best place to park is either the Bank of America Corporate Center Parking Deck, Seventh Street Station or the Hearst Tower. For a map of downtown and directions to the Corporate Center parking deck, click here. Patrons of The Shops at Founders Hall will have their parking validated for this deck for two hours.
Or, if you’re feeling up for something extra special, hop on the light rail and ride the train into town! This is a true treat for all ages! Click here for a schedule and for more info, check out Jen B’s awesome guide to riding the light rail.
Let us know if you’ve been to see the bears uptown or what other fun holiday traditions you have with your kids.

We took our twins for the very 1st time today. They are 20-mos-old & seemed to enjoy the bears for a bit. Though I think they got an even bigger kick out of climbing the stairs that surround the bear band and running in & out of Julies. Thank goodness I had hubby to help wrangle my two Energizer bunnies! Was nice to go during the week, thanks for posting this information, Tracy!
Hi. I took my daughther Isabella Bunich to see them this weekend and she just loved it. Im hoping to go back with Claire and Isabella together sometime this weekend again. Jen B was the one who introduced us to The Bears downtown. We will keep doing this as long as the girls like it.Marie Bunich
