After a month of going live with Smart E-Place, I thought it would be helpful to walk you through the process. If you have used Craig’s List or e-Bay, then you’re a pro and have probably figured this all out! But even so, I had a few bumps my first time so here goes.
The first thing you need to do is register and create a username, password, etc. Don’t worry. Even though you have to include your address, it’s hidden when you post your ad. It just shows up as “Charlotte, NC” or wherever you live. The next step is to create your ad. You enter the title, description, price, etc. and follow the step-by-step instructions. The most important thing for you to know is that in order for you to successfully sell something, you absolutely have to post a photo. This is your opportunity to sell with photos! And it’s not too difficult. Just upload your photo from your computer and make sure it’s small enough to send via email.
For this fun exercise, I posted a new ad where my friend, Sandi and I are pre-selling our high end consignment clothing (see above photos). Sandi is a mother of triplets and I am a mother of 4, so you can imagine the volume of stuff we accumulate. We’ve learned that some of the nicer, high end eBay worthy clothing doesn’t always sell well at consignment sales. So we like to sell ours in advance and we’ll still have plenty to sell at our favorite consignment sales. Sandi actually is selling for 7 families so it’s not just the two of us. Our ad is under “Clothing” and the title is “Smarty Pre-Consignment Sale”. It’s kind of like when you pre-party for a party! Check us out under Smart E-Place. The lines we have are Kelly’s Kids (some new with tags), Rags Land, Bailey Boys, Orient Expressed, Hannah Kate, Hanna Andersson and so much more. Everything is priced to sell. The sizes start at infant and go all the way up to 10/12 girls (and a little smaller in boys).
We’re striving to continually increase listings on Smart E-Place since it’s a trusted network of local moms. So remember, we have to shop there daily and post things often. If we all use it together, then it will become a fabulous resource. Happy selling!

Do you all sell or share your subscriber information? I have started receiving high-end kid catalogues? CWKids etc.???? Has anyone else experienced this?
How does the transaction work when you actually want to buy something or someone wants to buy your items? I.e. payment, shipping, etc. Do you just work that out directly with the seller?
We absolutely do not EVER share subscriber information!! Your increase in junk mail has nothing to do with us:-)As for transactions, you work out the details directly with the seller. We have no relationship with the buyer or seller. We’re just a classifieds information portal. As a regular seller, I would recommend accepting cash only, unless you know the person. Good luck!
Thank you for offering this service. I sold a big-ticket item in less than 24 hours! This was the first time I tried anything online. The transaction went smoothly. I made arrangements to meet the buyer somewhere between our two homes for convenience. Cash in my hands in one day – perfect!
Is there anyway for us Moms to sell our kids clothes to each other, if we are looking for something specific?
Is it possible for Moms to buy and sell kids clothes on here?
Yes! You can sell under “Clothing” and “Wanted”. You can renew as often as you want. We’re trying to drive more traffic to Smart E-Place so if we all keep using it, then it will be a fun place to shop:-)
