Presented by Lower School Counselor Kathleen Hutson, LCSWA and Middle/Upper School Counselor Heather Sheppard, LPC at The Fletcher School. Children’s early years in school build a foundation for the academic skills that will help them throughout life, and the social skills that will propel them to success in and out of the classroom. From respecting others, to developing healthy friendships to building self-confidence, this presentation will discuss the social milestones commonly encountered by students and how the adults in a young person’s life can support this social growth. During this two-part session, the first hour will focus on topics pertinent to Grades K-3, and the second hour will delve into issues more common in Grades 4-8. Participants are welcome to attend one or both portions of the program. Note: This workshop provides tools and techniques intended to serve students with learning differences, but can also be utilized in a traditional setting.
