TreesCharlotte, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing Charlotte’s tree canopy, is hosting three more TreeAdoption events: this Saturday, Feb, 26, as well as March 5 and March 26. At these events, Charlotte residents can receive FREE trees, as well as training on how to care for them.
TreesCharlotte’s mission is to help the City of Charlotte reach its goal of 50% tree canopy by 2050. We therefore limit our efforts to expand the canopy within Charlotte’s city limits and limit participation to Charlotte residents only. (Unfortunately, we do not serve Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius, other municipalities outside Charlotte, or Mecklenburg County.)
Proof of Charlotte residency (such as a driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) may be required on the day of the event.

TreeAdoption Events:
– Registration is required and opens several days prior to the event. First time adopters have early access to registration. Each Charlotte address/household can get up to two trees.
– A valid email address is required to register.
– Please allow for at least 45 minutes to receive your trees as everyone is required to go through a planting demonstration, during which you will be taught how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).
– About the trees: The trees are in 3, 5, and 7-gallon containers, measure 6-10 feet tall and weigh about 10-15 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag.
– TreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select.
