Saturday afternoon is like a Saturday night thanks to Baby Loves Disco! This is an afternoon dance party featuring groovy music spun and mixed by real DJs, blending classic disco tunes from the 70’s & 80’s that guarantees to get those little booties moving and grooving. Baby Loves Disco is proving to be the hottest new way for parents and kids to meet their friends and stay fit to boot!
I first heard about Baby Loves Disco three years ago when my friend told me about it in NYC. And I couldn’t wait for it to hit Charlotte! Baby Loves Disco is an entirely parent-run network of local moms and dads who coordinate each event and add their local touch. Our local mommy hostess is Carrie Humphries – thank you, Carrie! Neighborhood businesses and service providers add to the value of a Baby Loves Disco event, providing play activities and free goodies for the attending families. At each event, local parents guide the action, and A-list DJs and MCs help bring people of all ages together to dance and have relaxed fun.
At Baby Loves Disco, the fun spills out from all corners of the club: bubble machines, egg shakers, play scarves, a chill-out room (with tents, books and puzzles), diaper changing stations, a full spread of healthy snacks (provided by local businesses) and dancing – LOTS of dancing. In many cities, moms and dads can also enjoy special services like facials, massages and other fun stuff.

What age kids do you suggest this for?
Why does this event fall during naptime?
This is for kids of all ages, babies and up. All non-walking babies are free. They always have the event at this time – maybe due to the venue and what’s available? Not 100% sure about that one. I’m going to put the twins down for a late nap on that day and hope for the best!
Baby Loves Disco is perfect for kids ages 0-7, but older siblings are always welcome. The time choice has a lot of factors but #1, like Jen said, is when the venue is available… We schedule the event for 3 hours so those with different schedules/naps can still come and enjoy. Some will come from 12-2 and then go home to nap, others will come from 2-3 to boogie after their nap, and others (like my kiddos) will skip nap all together b/c the Disco is that much fun! π Hope to see you at the Disco!!
I went to a Baby loves Disco event in Chicago. It was a very cool event, my husband and I met some friends there and we had a really good time. It was a nice change from the regular children’s venues.
for those who have attended – would a 2 year old (28 months) enjoy this?
I have a friend who took her then 16 month old and said it was definitely more geared for kids older than 2.
for the 2 year old question, my daughter started going when she was 2 and has always had a great time. If your child likes to dance, get their hair painted, get temp tatoos, eat good/healthy snacks, and chill out with books and puzzles then they will have a good time π my now 18 month old has had a lot of fun as well π
Yeah yeah yeah! I read about this soon after I gave birth to my 2nd kid and thought “I need to get this here!” Then reality set in. So excited. Thanks for the info. We will be there with our boogie shoes on (or no shoes at all-if that’s allowed!)
so are you paying for the parents too or just the kids?
BLD charges $12 for all “non-walking humans” which means adults too. -Jen
yes, $12 per walking human and non walkers are free π
