Smarties, 4th of July is upon us! Charlotte is the perfect place to celebrate the holiday and there are some amazing events scheduled. We’ve got you covered with a few celebrations your family won’t want to miss.
Carowinds 4th of July Fireworks
When: July 4th 10:30 pm
Head to Carowinds to spend the day together enjoying all that Carowinds has to offer. Plan to stay up late for the fireworks show at 10:30 p.m. that is visible from anywhere in the park, but if you want the best seat in the house head to Carolina Boardwalk, County Fair, or Celebration Plaza.
Charlotte Symphony Celebrate America Show
When: July 2nd, 8:15 p.m. Symphony Park
It wouldn’t be 4th of July in Charlotte without the Symphony’s “Celebrate America” show. Tickets are on sale in advance or you can purchase them at the gate. Children are always free! Gates open at 5 p.m. , prelude performance will start at 7 p.m., the concert begins at 8:15 p.m., and fireworks end the whole evening with a bang at 9 p.m. Don’t forget to pack your picnic!
U.S. National Whitewater Center 4th of July Celebration
When: July 3rd- 4th
If you’re looking to spend the whole weekend celebrating, the Whitewater Center has events happening for days. From stand up paddle boarding yoga, trail races, yoga in the woods, live music, a duathlon, or fireworks two nights in a row at 9 p.m., you can find it all at USNWC. Entry to most events is free (after you pay for parking) except for races.
The WBT Sky Show
When: July 4th
This Smarties is the penultimate Charlotte 4th of July celebration. Grab tickets to the Charlotte Knights came at Truist Field on July 4th then stay after for the fireworks. The game starts at 6:35 p.m. and tickets are going fast!
Star Spangled Weekend at Optimist Hall
When: July 1st-2nd
Optimist Hall is a great place to celebrate any occasion and this one is super kid-friendly! Events start July 1st and run throughout the weekend, including live music from multiple artists including The Jolly Lollies, a kid-friendly interactive performance, face-painting, and balloon animals artists.
Field of Flags
When: July 2-5
A more somber but important event happening in Mooresville from July 2-5, hosted by Lowe’s YMCA and Exchange Club of Mooresville. The Field of Flags Celebration will commemorate our Veterans, fallen or active service members, and first responders. There will be a ceremony and concert on July 3 at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks. All throughout the event you are invited to walk through the flags night or day.
Baxter Village Parade
When: July 4th
Looking for a small town USA parade? Baxter Village will host a parade at 9:30 a.m. the morning of July 4th featuring more than 150 organizations, families, and vendors participating. Some 8,000 people are expected to attend so find your spot early! If you’d like to participate in the parade, no registration is necessary. Arrive in the lot behind Killington’s Restaurant at 940 Market Street in Fort Mill by 9 a.m. July 4th.
Free Fishing Day
July 4th isn’t just for fireworks, it’s also for fishing! Sponsored by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, “Free Fishing Day” is the perfect opportunity for families to try recreational fishing for free only on the 4th of July. Fishing regulations are still enforced but without the requirement of a license.
