Smarties, our friends at Mitchell’s House are holding a fundraiser on May 11 at Free Range Brewing to help children with serious illnesses and their families get counseling. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and taking part in an event like this is a great tangible way to make an impact. Read on for details!
Who: Mitchell’s House is a project of Mitchell’s Fund and a safe place offering counseling and play therapy services to children with serious illnesses, their parents and siblings. Mitchell’s House is the first-of-its-kind, non–profit counseling center in the United States to specialize in medical trauma. When a child is diagnosed, it can impact the entire family who can become anxious, overwhelmed, and exhausted.
Mitchell’s House offers services regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Our licensed clinicians and play therapists provide services like:
- Trauma-informed therapy and coping skills
- Medical play, art and sand tray therapy
- Sibling and parent support groups
- Procedural preparation and end of life therapy
What: Pizza, beer and an exclusive pop-up market to raise money and awareness for play therapy and counseling to help sick children and their families in Charlotte. May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
When: Thursday, May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Free Range Brewing, 2320 N. Davidson Street
