CSP Editor’s Note: This post is timely as we learned last evening of the 3rd death by suicide this month at my daughters’ NC university. The news is tragic and an indicator of the state of mental health of our teens and young adults today. Check in on your college students. Seek help – campus resources are overloaded, appointments can be difficult to get, especially if you need immediate attention. The Crisis Text Line is also a very valuable resource for any age when in a crisis, trained counselors are available 24/7 – text SHARE to 741741 (shout out to Lisa Owens for sharing this tip with us:-). If your student is in a crisis situation and in need of immediate help, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988. In the case of life-threatening emergency, call 911. Intervene. Advocate. Lord, please take care of our babies. ~Jen Plym
Although the world continues to see more people struggle with mental health than ever, counseling appointments are becoming harder and harder to come by. That’s why C&FD will now be offering counseling for college students through two different mediums to make it more accessible.
1) Virtual Counseling for college students in NC OR
2) In-Person Counseling at one of our two locations below.
