Merry, Merry: Takes the Cake

Co-founders Carolee Sinton and Jen Nowak are two Charlotte moms (of four, I might add) and good friends of Smarty! They established Takes the Cake in 2012, motivated by compliments and interest for their incredible-tasting pound cake. They have taken what was once a simple and gracious gesture between two friends and turned it into an exciting baking venture.

Their pound cake, made from a decades-old family recipe, is made from scratch with only 8 natural ingredients. They never use anything artificial and never use preservatives, resulting in a delicious (and many say addictive) pound cake. In additional to the traditional pound cake, they come include an array of seasonal flavors. Wrapped beautifully, these cakes make a gift that leaves an impression not only because of the amazing taste! We like to give these DELISH pound cakes as hostess gifts, teacher gifts, birthday cakes – the list goes on!
