A year after being cancelled due to COVID, the Polar Express Train Ride is back at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer! The experience brings the treasured children’s Christmas story to life with a 70-minute train ride through the grounds of the N.C. Transportation Museum, featuring two stage performances, hot chocolate and cookies, and a host of family fun. The rides start this Friday and Saturday, with departure times starting at 4 p.m. and leaving as late as 8:30 p.m.

WHAT:
“Well, are you coming?” Inspired by the hit movie, this holiday favorite comes to life as you and your family take a magical trip on THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride!
Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, families are sure to enjoy their trip to the North Pole, complete with hot chocolate and cookies served on board the train. Passengers are entertained by a reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s classic,” The Polar Express.” Upon arrival at the North Pole, passengers de-board to watch Santa present the first gift of Christmas. Before exiting the train at Candy Cane Lane, all passengers who BELIEVE will receive their own sleigh bell.
Experience the joy of caroling and holiday entertainment that will surely become an annual family tradition. Children of all ages are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride and join in on the magic of Christmas!

COVID POLICY
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test is required for all THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride events at the N.C. Transportation Museum for visitors age 12 and older.
For the 2021 season, all THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride ticket-holders age 12 and older must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination OR a negative COVID-19 test completed within 72 hours prior to the event. Guests should present these documents with their ticket upon admission.
Given the continued threat of COVID-19 and variants of the virus, face masks are required for indoor areas of the N.C. Transportation Museum, including on trains. Masks must be worn at all times except while actively eating or drinking. Failure to comply may result in denial of boarding or removal. Children under the age of two and individuals with disabilities who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disability Act are exempt.
