ROVE (RŌV):
Travel constantly without a fixed destination; wander.
Smarties, I have been counting down the days to introduce you to our newest partner for outdoor fall fun ~ meet ROVE Rentals. They offer a hip fleet of trailers and rooftop tents that anyone with a trailer hitch and a quest for outdoor adventure can enjoy. Team Plym got a test drive and we are all hooked – like trying to figure out if we can go to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons next summer hooked!
My entire family loves camping. I’ll admit, I used to love it in my 20s, but I’m ehh, a little higher maintenance in my {older} age, and my kids are thanking their lucky stars above that ROVE Rentals entered our lives! The ROVE is a super cool expedition trailer that has every inch of space perfectly designed.
The ROVE Adventure & Expedition trailers are compact, durable, self-sufficient, and designed to go places your dad’s pop-up from the 80’s could only dream about (in their own words and I couldn’t agree more!). I kid you not, we were the talk of our campsite, literally every person who walked by stopped to check out our super cool ROVE.
Here’s what it’s all about.
Whether you are heading to a remote mountainside location or a campground nestled among the trees, ROVE Rentals has you covered. And the best part? You basically just get to show up, it’s that easy. Everything you can imagine that you’ll need is included with exception of food.
The ROVE is so easy to set up, including the rooftop tent – my teenagers set it up in less than five minutes. In addition, we literally rolled up right before dark, and within an hour we had the ROVE and rooftop tent set up, appetizers ready and dinner on the handy stove and campfire started. It was the easiest camping I’ve ever done and I camped for 4 1/2 months when I graduated college (fun Smarty fact about me😉).
The cabin has a queen size memory foam mattress which was a game-changer for this high maintenance camper – super comfy, I slept like a baby, not kidding. They have dual locking cabin doors with screens so you can enjoy the fresh air at night or keep it closed for colder temps. The cabin looks really cool at night with LED cabin lights and USB outlets for charging your devices – but we highly recommend going off grid and leave your social media behind. Just use this charger for your phone camera. Trust us, the Plym fam went off grid for the weekend and it was glorious! I heard not one single complaint.
For the upcoming cooler fall and winter months, the ROVE is a perfect camping option because the cabin and the rooftop tent are actually really warm. Our nighttime camping temps were low 30s and nobody was cold. The rooftop tent is insulated and keeps you really warm.
The hatch on the back is really cool and perfectly designed. It has a stainless steel bar sink, hot/cold water tank, LED lights, more chargers, a fridge, pots/pans/utensils for cooking. They have thought of everything – basically anything and everything you need for your next glamping trip – it’s all included.
The kids loved sleeping in the rooftop tents, while Mom & Dad scored the memory foam mattress in the cabin – it was a win/win for all!!
My kids love when Mom comes camping because I whip up the perfect spread (Dad usually just brings granola bars and bananas, oh and water😳). Our ROVE friends introduced us to Babe & Butcher in Charlotte and they provided these incredible charcuterie and dessert boards:
We picked Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia as our destination. It was the perfect spot for our fam, we got two campsites to accommodate our awesome ROVE and there were amenities including a bathroom and shower.
Spread across 4,822 acres in southwestern Virginia, Grayson Highlands State Park is known for its sweeping views of mountain meadows (known as “balds”), its 2.8-mile leg of the Appalachian trail and, most notably, its thriving population of wild ponies. We loved every minute of our weekend. We hiked all day and couldn’t wait to get back to our ROVE for some family time, good food and storytelling. It was the perfect escape from CLT during these crazy times of quarantine.
Smarties, y’all need to book your Rove Adventure now – we’re so lucky to have the most beautiful fall weather in the Southeast, perfect for camping year-round! Stay tuned at Thanksgiving time – our friends at Rove are planning the coolest Pick-Your-Own-Christmas Tree outing you’ve ever heard of. Your kids will think you are rockstars! Details to come!
